I see in some newsgroups yenc postings instead of mime and wonder if Aces High plans to use this method anytime soon or ever?  

Seems controversial -- e.g., not supported by MS Outlook Express or AOL, quite a few articles pro and con.

y-encoding is used mostly to allow people to post binary files to newsgroups.  Most newsreaders (i.e. NOT MS crap) have the ability to decode these files.

Since the AH board is not a newsgroup, but an http-based system, the answer to your question is: no.
