Bush and Reporters
« on: April 30, 2004, 04:39:39 AM »
After recently watching Bush with President from Sweeden and again the other night after his "discussion" with the panel regarding 9/11 It just amazes me how badly he answers questions from reporters.

I'm sure in person he's a great guy and possibly smarter then he appears and tries to come across as a straight talker.  But when he is trying to answer reporters questions he comes across extremely badly with his constant incoherent ramblings.

In the rose garden last night he said he wasn't going to go into details of questions asked by the panel. But it only took about the 3rd question before he got caught out and didn't realise untill he had already started to answer the question about Al Qaeda still operating in the US.

His advisiors must cringe every time he's near a mic without a well written and rehearsed speech.

How would you feel after answering the same questions over and over everytime you had a press conference?  The last PC that I saw was after his announcement of C. Rice talking before the 9/11 commission.  I turned it off after about 10 mins. because of the repetition of the questions and the fact that the questions were just, well, dumb.

But that's our media for ya.

every time he had a press conference?  He has had the fewest press conferences so far of any modern president, something like 11 or 12 iirc.

His handlers keep him from the press because he doesnt speak well and doesnt know much (Incurious George)  That was obvious from his MTP interview and his baloneyfest press conference with the pre-submitted questions

It's most interesting to study this when Bush is taking questions with another leader from the press. And the difference in how Bush answers questions compared to the other PM or President.

As we all know most politicans are excellent in a long drawn out answers without actually answering the question. Where as Bush dosn't seem to have this ability at all. Often Bush's answer is shorter then the actual question itself.

I actually like Bush as a personality, he has to be one of the most entertaining Presidents you've ever had.

Only wish the English comedy Spitting Image was back, they would have a field day with Bush and Blair.

"fewest press conferences so far of any modern president, something like 11 or 12"

I was suprised at that statistic as well, especially considering the country is at war. You'd think he would have alot more to say and communicate.

Just remember how incredibly well Clinton could think on his feet and yet make such stupid everyday decisions.

I agree, Bush is not a sharp communicator but I enjoy feeling superior just listening to him :D

Yeager,  Clinton used to amaze me.  Don't get me wrong, I couldn't stand the guy and he lied just about any time he opened his mouth.  But I used to watch him spin and was amazed at how effortless he made it look.  He'd be asked a question and give a 5 minute answer.  If you really listened to the words he said though the answers usually made no sense what so ever.  Just a bunch of words that sound good together (my buddy used to write songs like this)

With Bush you get short answers but they say volumes more than what Clinton would say with a whole page of words!!!  Gixer,  see if you notice this the next time you watch a Bush press conference.   I noticed this back in 2001 or 2002.  "I think"  that if Bush really is behind something with his heart he doesn't stutter one bit when giving the answer.  It's the issues he's not sure about that he stutters on.  It used to be that when asked about the war on terror he wouldn't stutter one bit but when asked about domestic stuff he turned in to p p p porky p p p pig.

Sure do wish the dems had put up somebody besides john squealing kerry.
