I wasn't thinking this was going to be anything that impressive, and had my sights set on the Atlas Launch and Kennedy Space Center. I was wrong.

This is a HUGE airshow, and when I got to 100 pictures I knew this was a good one. Then the Airshow itself started with the Warbirds.

I can't break it down other than a bit at a time, as I certainly need to get some "name this aircraft" , because they had so many warbirds I didn't even know what they were.

Anyway, they had a P-51 blow alot of stuff up and just generally do lots and lots of flyby's.

They had a mess of P51's, I was most impressed with how they set convergence. I can scan in a close up of the details on the convergence if someones interested.

And before I'd even got to the Warbirds, they had some serious big money private planes (EXP was the best) with some paintjobs you'd have to see to believe. I have no idea what this is, but I want one, with this paint.

Basically, it was a perfect Florida day, and an Airshow you must try to attend. Helps to have a EAA membership too.

Even the flightsim display was impressive. "Elite" has some gear to die for the desktop people.

Can you show the convergence thing?

I always figured they just set the plane's tail up on blocks, fired away, and adjusted accordingly. Like they show in the movies.

Sun n' Fun is the little brother(and growing) to Oshkosh. Great pictures! Wish I was there.

Here's some Desktop Flightsim display "joystick" stuff if you will. I think the company was "Elite".

It had a really good sim setup, high end, but there was alot of stuff for us guys if you didn't want to buy a full IFR unit, which was pretty kick ass,
all the way down to the CH Pro stuff which with mixture levers was nice, and about $120. But for a school, they had that covered too.

The one with the flame paint job is a RV-7A. Looked up the N number.

#3 Kate or Val? Always get those mixed up.

Thanks for the pics. Wish I could've gone. I'm going to try and talk my job in to sending me to Reno or Oshkosh this year to set up a booth. Odds are somewhere between slim and none, but worth a shot.

#1 = Yes, a B-25. Its based out of Tom O'Reilly's Warbirds Restoration Museum in Kissimmee (Orlando) off Irlo Bronson Hwy. I've been to that museum. Its super cool if you're into airplanes and don't mind a lack of airconditioning.

#2 = Not sure. I think its the FM-2 but its hard to see the back end. A high vert stab is the clue.

#3 = Actually, a modified AT-6 or SNJ that was done up for the movie "Tora Tora Tora". Its supposed to be the Kate 3-man torpedo plane, and is a real piece of work.

I'm a member of the Florida Aviation Museum that puts on the airshow. I recognize a lot of familiar nose art in those shots. They usually have a pretty good turn-out of Mustangs.

The Elite system is a great tool designed for teaching pilots with a VFR license and giving them a chance to practice at home for the IFR exam. Its high-end stuff designed to replicate actual cockpit controls. When I tried it, the Elite system used a PC port connected to a hardware box, into which the joystick and stuff was plugged. This was back when game controllers used the gameport on the soundcard and peripherals used the other ports. Now that everything is USB, the difference probably doesn't matter. CH Prod makes a pretty good yoke with mixture levers and is a bit more versatile and takes up less space. But, the Elite controllers have that "oh wow cool" factor.

I went to that show as well. It was great. I liked the B17 blowing watermelon up :-)

I never even saw a B17 mia?! I guess it was as big an airshow as it seemed. Musta been on the weekend, as we were there on Thursday.

Faster, I'd hook up on the Elite low end stuff if it wasn't insane money, (I didn't dare ask) and i could live without the radio stack. I don't need practice or cost tuning in radios, but the yoke setup was extra cool.

Man, finding a OT thread I even started that has warbird pictures on a flightsim bbs was a hella chore. WTF is wrong with this place? Election year or what?

its an fm2 you can tell by the indentions near the cowl flaps.

Plus I think there is only 1 flying wildcat thats not an fm2. Stony posted pics of it awhile back.
