Food for thought

These are not my words, they are quoted from another post in another forum. They are just as valid here though.

So many on the left seem desperately opposed to getting Iraq right. They oppose democracy in Iraq, a real representative democracy.

They claim to have opposed Saddam Hussein while vigorously denouncing the very act which removed him.

They proclaim loudly any perceived American act which can be construed to be malicious while strangely quite as Saddam Hussein continued to pile bodies in mass graves.

Some call for the execution of American soldiers suspected of mistreating POWs all the while screaming that the USA should release suspected terrorists.

American fire directed at a mosque harboring militants firing on Americans is condemned while suicide bombings that slaughter Iraqi civilians are labeled acts of resistance fighters.

Civilian contractors in Iraq are called despicable mercenaries while foreign fighters coming over the border to kill Americans are labeled freedom fighters.

They show images of dead Iraqis all the while weeping. Yet when an image of an American dead is seen they gleefully shout “they had it coming”.

They will call for war crime trials when an American bomb hits an anti-aircraft gun and some nearby civilians are killed. Yet when a terrorist vaporizes a school bus of children it is labeled “understandable”.

What has caused the “left” to become so jaded that they actually enjoy the deaths of Americans? That any perceived set-back, be it real or not, brings them joy as they rush to post proof positive that President Bush was wrong and American is getting her just deserts.

What has caused some to hate a single man, the President, so much that they would sacrifice America herself just to cause him to fail?

There is no doubt in my mind that there are posters on this forum who experience a political “orgasm” every time they read about another fallen American. What drives someone from disagreement to outright vitriol and hate?

Food for thought huh?

McDonald's drive-thru style I am sure.

Ya know... I used to picture Republicans as sort of John Wayne type people. Even though I disagree with much of it, I could appreciate the strength of conviction, the simple yet solid and idealistic principles, traditionalism, basic, black & white - but based on a great many truisms. Just, real down homey... Yeah, solid-like. Good stuff.

What happened?

Now most of the Republicans I see come across as sooo thin skinned. Ya try and say anything and it's like "Oh my GOD they are being mean to my President!" Boo hoo - grow a pair.

:p

I remember when Reagan forced the issue of US tactical nukes in western europe and the left in America and Europe just went crazy, Insane...calling Reagan a warmonger and terrorist for forcing the poor wee little west Germans into a suicide pact against their will.  The Russians, of course, viewed it as a setup to a pre-emptive strike against the soviet motherland.  All the euro trash hippies (parents of todays AH BBS euro dorks) came up from the deep wretched earth and protested, making Reagan look like an idiot in the eyes of NBC, CBS and ABC (PreFox).  I was just a kid then, prepared to be incinerated in a nuclear holocaust all because of mean old warmongering Reagan.

I see many parallels to todays situation in Iraq, yet many differences as well.  Regardless, I see the left today sticking to the same bullshyt loser theory and I view them as being as wrong today as they turned out to be 20+ years ago.  Problem is I dont see Bush in the same league as Reagan.  We shall see, but it will be many years after Bushes 2nd term before the truth is obvious to even the most ignorant liberal (like it would make any difference).  In any event, liberals will be liberals, so no amount of "told you so" will make any difference to those people.  This is where a strong and powerful leader (Unlike Clinton) will make a difference a generation later.  Lets see how it turns out 10 years from now and debate the issue then.

Until then liberals....STFU for once!
