Anyone Listen to Charlie Hunter? A friend from work gave me a few songs of his on an mp3 CD...

there were numerous Charlie Hunter songs ranging from beebop jazz to fusion to light new age.

not a fan of most of those BUT...

there was this version of No Woman, No Cry

WOW what a great cover!!!!!!!!! all instrumental, and all feeling.

unfortunatly that "friend" from work has been fired and i can not get a hold of him to learn more

anyone know more songs in the spirit of this? (beautiful instrumentals with real feeling)????

i'd gladly break my ban on buying CD's and give money to those devils in the record industry for more music like this song.

I don't know that singer, but if you like No Woman, No Cry, buy any Early Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Not a singer.. a instrumental jazz guitarist.

Yep I know, and own the original Bob Marley No Woman, No Cry.

It's funny how rarely somone improves on an original. Usually something is lost in the translation, but this version is more powerful I'd say. Not to mention the poor recording quality of the original (I know that is a draw to some fans of older genre music, but it has always been a turn-off to myself).

Personally I find it so hard to browse the local independant music store's Jazz section, looking for something that you don't know what it is (if that makes sence

). If you are not TOTALLY familiar with an artists repertoire, you can not accurately judge the content

.

I guess I'm looking for someone else who if familiar with his music (or someone else's) and can give me a step or two in the right direction.

I will look for him the next time I am in the music store, and I feel the same way about buying Jazz or Blues-I need more info to buy.
