7 assists in 1 sortie

while im not to botherd with assists, there are some that really P*** me off... for instance today, i came up on a lonely P51B, while flying my Spit9 (IM SORRY! lol). I opened up at 200-300 with my cannons only, the right cannon hit the right wing, and the left cannon hit the tail. Both fell off, and the plane then blew up.....

Assist on goose something or other. I mean HOW THE F***?

The 51B flew with much honor, Lag-son. The Spit, well...........
At least you admitted you were in it.:D

Poor Goose probably survived a great fight only to fall to the spitflower.

Oh yea. Ive done that several times. Most recently the other day.
It ouched even worse cause several of those assists are on specific pilts I want/ed to get kills on.

Personally I think you should get at least something in the way of points for assists.
One time I was in a tiffy and spotted 4 planes hot on the tail of another countrymen. I slid in behind em and they were so busy racing each other to get the kill on the one guy none checked their 6.
I came in and nailed all 4 one after another.
End result 1 kill and 3 assists
Landed, looked at score.
I was not pleased.

Nah, I've never gotten assists after blowing off a planes wing and having a LW come by and spray it as its tumbling to the ground - must just be you, Steve :p

Don't puff out your chest - just kidding :)

Hands-down, the assist meister are the 109s, w/o MK108, w/o gondies. It's a great useful plane for point defence, immediate air coverage and when there are multiple 109s around one really notices how much defending becomes easier.

But the damn frickin' armament usually means that the 109s will work their prettythang off to bring higher planes down to deck levels, where either the La-7s or Spits are waiting to finish the enemy off, depending on whether the target decides to turn or to run - whichever case, the 109 rarely gets to kill anything.

I think the highest assists I got was about 9 in a G-10.

Lethality of the lavochkin 3 cannon set compared to its 2 cannon set always seems more than the 50% extra implied by the No. of cannon............. but it could be just me certainly my assist rate shoots up when flying the La5FN compared to the La7........... particularly  when shooting at heavy stuff.............

Yet the Yak 9U with only one such cannon and a 12.7 mg whilst having less rounds seems  to produce a higher ratio of kills to assists when I fly it.

How many folk actually know their convergence setting each time they choose a ride?

Tilt, what does convergence have to do with the Russian nose guns?  No wing guns there, right?

contrary to somes belief, convergence affects nose mounted guns ( mainly cannons over machine guns) in the neighbor hodd of  50 to 75 , meaning if you set machine guns in the nose at 500 you would need to set the cannons 50 to 75 further out to hit at 500 with the machine guns,  I have tested this theory with Yaks, La7's p38's  so I would assume it would be the same for the FW's and 109's as well and al other nose/cowl mounted gunned planes.

The distance of convergence is not as substantial between 200 to 500 but over 500 it starts to grow. Most people that say convergence does not matter have prob gotten used to the way they aim and are not really looking at the distance counter at all, but are honed in on the sweet spot by the way the size of the target looks when they pull the trigger! :)

I think its some sort of server overload. Last night I hit a spit V at d400 and less 3 times with P47's 8 .50's. No damage....none.  On the 4th, he blew up in flames. Happens to me all the time. I'm the assist king.

Funny though, when I went to the con a few years back things died like I do usually. ping pang BOOM!
