First perks and cost values POLL
« on: December 30, 2000, 11:57:00 AM »
Howdy folks!

I think we all can say what a great upgrade we have to our favorite hobby....1.5 kicks ass.

Now, i really love the new scoring system, unpopular planes (usually not great preformers) get more points for shooting down some of the more popular planes <niki Chog.>

So its my understanding that in the next release we shall have "perk" rides availible, so guys rack those points up.

It would be thoughtfull to introduce a perked fighter, bomber, Vehicle at next release.  So which ones do you guys think will be coming and which do you want to see???????

As for the values of these machines, you want them to be expensive enough to only be acquired every so often.

Heres my thoughts:

Fighter: 262 the ultimate B/Zer although I think speed will almost work agasint you in this fast machine...in other works fun to fly but it might be tough to get kills....its just soooooo fast. Value 100 perk points.

Bomber: b29....20,000 bombs of bombs I think
says it all.  Not to mention the cannon on its rear end. Cost 100 bomber perks.

Vehicle: tiger2 what the hell sounds good to me...COST 50 Vehicle perks.

Anyway I just wanted to get a feel for how many Perk points you guys have and what seems fair for rides...

Its taken me about 10 hours of flight time to get 80 fighter perks...thats with flying mainly fighters.

So what do ya guys think?

not sure we should discuss cost until scoring refined to majorities accepted hard/easy popular/unpopular rides.
So far i see F4's(10) everywhere at least 4 to 1 of any other. i rarely see 202's(50) or 205's (40) so it seems about right.
F4d's with mgs doesnt seem too unpopular now or too bad at killing.should it remain 28?
yak (25)? seems a triffle harsh i think 27-29 more fair.
B17 (20) and b26(10) ? popularity? survivabilty? id rather fly the b17 myself for survivability and i dont see as many b26's as b17s..not sure about this one.

hehe...

Since Chogs can blow apart my Lancaster in 2 seconds now, thanks to bullets matched only by the magic ones JFK got...I'd love to get some payback...

Pictured below is what I want MY perk points to go towards...

I think for all the 2 ping kills the F4C's have had on me, they deserve a Sidewinder or sweep of my gattling guns

Oh!  You fly those?

I didnt fly in the military...wanted to, then ole Clintpn cut us back and my slot went poof.  Now, at 31, Im "too old".  Grrr.  Taught me which party to vote for!

British Harriers and Nimrods frequent here (Bangor, Maine) a lot.  Stop here, gas up, spend the night then proceed on to Nevada for live weapons and other training.  I guess the Brits frown fragging what little land they've got

200 hour licensed pilot here...building a BD-5, hope to have it in the air in 2001

What u don't see if the knocked down pilot on the bottom of the plane. This is as far as I could go, MPs caught me while I was starting the right engine. I'm just a flight instructor and a retired Lt intelligence.

And considering how "well" I actually fly..
my Perk points will be well spent on this terror:

you won't be laughing when the 7.62 rounds fly past your head!

So far i see F4's(10) everywhere at least 4 to 1 of any other.

Well, if the 1C was designated as a Marine F4U (in keeping with its insignia in AH), then we would see more D-Hogs in the arena.

The Marine F4U was not carrier capable.  Nor do I think it could carry wingstores such as bombs, rockets and extra fuel tanks.

SO, wanna fly a C-Hog?  Don't perk it, but restrict it to airfields instead of CVs

At the moment, there is NOTHING different about the Hog versions other than the guns.  Give people some incentive to fly the D-Hog, other than their personal honour.

Once Corsairs were carrier-qualified (1944) there were Marine squadrons based on carriers.

There was a squadron of Marine Carrier-Based CHogs in combat. Most of the CHogs were Navy, however.

And, as best I can tell, EVERY CHog was Carrier-based. At the minimum, the vast majority were.

So that solution doesn't work.

I was on last night and in an hour and a half of flying, I only saw 1 c-hog from the knits.  He swooped by, pinged me 4 times (got an aileron) then was killed by my wingman.  How's that for violating stereotypes?

Another oddity... I engaged 3 d-hogs last night, countless Yak-9s, P-47s, more than a few F6Fs and several P-51s.

I did see chogs launch from the Bish CV.. as the knits brought out 10 panzers to shoot at the group from the shore.  Kinda hard to scream cannon-hog there though.
