1&1 Web Hosting service

I almost bought a contract with them, but was concerned after reading the following in the contract:

"3.2. Before using a website under a domain name, 1&1 may contain advertisements on the website for 1&1 Services or for the products and services offered by business partners of 1&1 or by other third parties. "

So does this mean that they can advertise on my site?

&

"12.1. Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, a data-transfer volume of 6 Gigabytes per month is included in the 1&1 Services. The utilized data-transfer volume is calculated on the basis of all data-transfers that take place during any given calendar month (including but not limited to downloads, email, uploads and website visits). For purposes of this Agreement, 1 Gigabyte equals 1000 Megabytes, 1 Megabyte equals 1000 Kilobytes and 1 Kilobyte equals 1000 Bytes. "

So if I have a 1,000 MB site, it can be veiwed entirly six times?

1&1

Anyone heard of them or have any host suggestions?  SOB sugested one a month ago, I think I'll take another look at that one.

I signed up for 2 of their  3 year freebies that included 50 megs of web space.  Little did I know that  they would only allow 10 pages made only through their webpage maker.  No ftp directory.

Wrong.  I signed up for the freebie, and I have an FTP directory.  Works fine.  Just gotta go set it up from the user control panel.

I don't have more than 10 pages up, but am running a PHPBBS based family BBS without any issues.

Paid for a domain name for 5 bucks, and I'm off!

No problems so far.  No advertisements either, after 6 months of BBS-ing.
