You see it daily, body language, and the way major news anchors word things...for instance the last 24 hours went something like this:

"President Bush addressed the Arab world about the prisoner abuse but failed to apologize"...

..then 24 hours later...

"President Bush *finally* apologized to the Arab community.."

"Finally"?

heh.

Knight-Ridder The Miami based publisher of extreme left rags.

The Miami Herald is amazing.  a leftist newspaper in an otherwise right leaning community that immediately moves to squash even a hint of competition.

Y'all need to stop getting your "facts" from Rush and O'liely.

http://www.fair.org/reports/journalist-survey.html

You probably won't read it, so here are a few highlights:

Quote
The findings include:

On select issues from corporate power and trade to Social Security and Medicare to health care and taxes, journalists are actually more conservative than the general public.

Journalists are mostly centrist in their political orientation.

The minority of journalists who do not identify with the "center" are more likely to identify with the "right" when it comes to economic issues and to identify with the "left" when it comes to social issues.

Journalists report that "business-oriented news outlets" and "major daily newspapers" provide the highest quality coverage of economic policy issues, while "broadcast network TV news" and "cable news services" provide the worst.

Quote
The larger "liberal media" myth has been maintained, in part, by the well-funded flow of conservative rhetoric that selectively highlights journalists' personal views while downplaying news content.

Journalists are centrists, yet they vote 3:1 for Democrat presidential candidates while the rest of the country has been voting  Democrat less than 1:1 for the past 30 years.  FAIR is trying to torture the numbers to proove there's no left wing bias, that's all.   How journalists reply to a poll is meaningless.  What matters is how leftist views are being promoted by the country's largest newspapers.  If the NYT reporters polled as 100% conservative, what would that proove?

"a 24-question self-administered survey was sent by mail to Washington-based journalists"

That was FAIR's methodolgy.  I would say they pretty much wasted time and money with that methodology.  They should have reviewed boradcast news and op-ed for the last 5 years and analysed for certain keywords.

Strk.  FYI O'reily is not a conservative.  He may lean to the right on the occasion but he calls it like he sees it.  If the president does something he doesnt like he calls him on it.

Rush made his fame by hateing the clintons for 8 years. The liberals have plenty of issues. You just choose to not listen to them. O'reily is a registered republican.

cut and paste from http://www.poynter.org/content/content_view.asp?id=28808

Compared with 1992, the percentage of full-time journalists who claim to be Democrats has dropped 7 percentage points in 2002 to slightly above 37 percent, moving this figure closer to the overall population percentage of 32 percent, according to a July 29-31, 2002, Gallup national telephone poll of 1,003 adults. This is the lowest percentage of journalists saying they are Democrats since 1971.

Slightly more journalists said they were Republicans in 2002 (18.6 percent) than in 1992 (16.3 percent), but the 2002 figure is still notably lower than the percentage of U.S. adults who identified with the Republican Party (31 percent according to the Gallup poll mentioned above). About one-third of all journalists (33.5 percent) said they were Independents, which is very close to the figure for all U.S. adults (32 percent). Journalists in 2002 were much more likely than the general public to say that they were something other than Democrat, Republican, or Independent, however (10.5 percent versus 1 percent).

So according to this recent Gallup poll, journalists tend to be more Democratic and less Republican in party affiliation than the general population.  Hence one can infer a more liberal than conservative political lean to the media.

This tends to make some sence as with a median salary in the 40K, Republicans tend to shy away from these jobs, as the money is elsewhere,

well by your theory about rush than Air American should be flourishing right?  Yes I choose not to listen to them and so does the majority of the rest of America OBVIOUSLY

O'reily:
Just because he's a "registered" republican doesnt mean he wouldnt vote for a democrat if he liked them.  If you've ever listened to his show he calls to the carpet the dems as much as the repubs.  He's more of an independent thinker than most.  He sticks by his convictions and has changed his mind on many things over the years.
