Awesome stop and go/stall (get on your six) characteristics.

Do we have anything like this?

Although an awesome plane, what good is doing the cobra (other then in airshows) in combat? It will be a big sitting duck... kinda like a stalled out p38 in AH :D

Thanks for the link Central.  Interesting debate.

I don't know much about fighter jets but I don't see how any fighter would ever get a lock on the SU-35.  It's agility is awesome and I'm sure it's recovery speed is great too. This thing looks like it could turn fight a zeke!

Disclaimer; I know nothing about jet fighting. ;)

BTW, would you recommend any online jet  fighter simulators?  I've thought about trying one out but I have no idea which ones are the most popular. And how is the learning curve for fighter jets games compared to AH?

The cobra isn't usefull except as a demonstration of capability.  The advantage of aicraft capable of flying with an 'unlimited-AOA' in combat is that you can point your nose, quickly in any direction you please.

With all-aspect dogfight capable weapons, a plane could, in theory, flip itself around, loose a missile, and then recover to normal flight.  Wing loading and turn-rates be damned.

Paintbrush: From 30 miles, all the maneuverability in the world isn't going to stop someone from locking on to you.  Thats what stealth is for.  The trick is to spot the incoming missile in time to attempt to evade it.(And modern weapons make that pretty tough)  Modern jet-fighter combat is a lot of boring point-and-shoot-bvr-kill crap.

Nice film.

Want to be able to do all that and more just fly the "Niki" in AH.

Paint,

Right now the only flight sims i have on my puter are AH and Falcon4. As noted on another thread  i wont be flying for another day or so.

but.. in terms of dynamic campaign your best bet is Falcon4. If you want eye candy, go for Lomac. Both awesome sims in their own respects.:aok

Shoot, wasn't it all the way back in the 70's when an F-14 could shoot a plane down 25 miles away?

Thanks Central. I'll check them out.
And the Niki, sixxgunn.  I've flown it  a couple of times when I first started AH and I was trying out all the planes. I'll give it a second look.  Thanks

Sorry, i missed this... bwahahhahah hahahaahhaahah.

:rofl :rofl :lol :lol

whew, ok sorry.. thats right you wanted to know the learning curve. Well, if you want to learn to fly falcon, first you'll need:
falcon4 cd (hard to get)
108us
sp3 or 4
bms
ff2
on top of that:
hitiles
cockpits
skypatch
on top of that, theaters:
balkans
Operation desert storm512
panama
vietnam

Oh, wait, you wanted learning curve, i just went over the install :(

Well:
falcon4- has it own 300+ manual
sp3 - just as thick
sp4 - just at thick but more gooodies
ff - manual
bms manual
manuals for  everything.

Point being, once you get everything up and running you have one KICKprettythang sim. head to http://WWW.frugalsworld.com and go to the falcon4 forums. LOTs of help there.

As of writing this, they're coming out with a "one touch install"  program that installs F4, 108, sp4 etc...   this will be a great helpl

im sure i missed some 20-30 steps but hey, i love the sim, cant get an old dog to do new tricks :D :aok
