Hey gun guys. Repair Warranty question.
« on: April 08, 2004, 01:22:43 PM »
I just send of my V10 to springfield since nothing I do can get the thing to extract. It does snap caps fine but real rounds no.

SO it was a lemon, can the gun maker replace it? Or does that cound as a new gun and all new paperwork has to be done ETC? Anyone ever have a gun maker replace their firearm?

Are they going to replace it or repair it?  Replacement would require registering the new weapon. There should not be any paperwork to do on a repair from the factory.

Hope this helps a little.

Does your slide have a serial number on it? My Sig only has a # on the frame.  Or do you think they will replace the whole thing??

I am not sure yet, they have not gotten back to me. I doubt it will need to be replaced, I do not think it has that many problems lol.

I was just curios if it did what would happen? Do they ship the replacement to local dealer and I go pick it up? Wait period etc. Having to wait for a gun I already owned would suck!

If they replace the weapon......Yes it will be shipped to the dealer of your choice or one of thier stores and you will have to pick your weapon up there. The paperwork and waiting period should be the same as a new purchase. It sucks but that is the way it works.

99.9% of the time the manufacturer will repair before they will replace so you should not have any problems. Springfield has great customer service so the ordeal should be hassle free for you.

Browning replaced a Buckmark Bullseye for me.  If I remember right, they shipped it directly to me.  I don't remember picking it up anywhere.  Nice pistiol btw.

Springflield has been good so far, they picked up the tab on shipping, and I had no hold times when I called them. Hopefully they turn it around fast.

As far as just repairs go, Colt replaced a missing front sight and shipped it back free of charge.  (Steel frame Combat Commander that has passed several thousand rounds through it).

Marlin replaced the action on a 22 rimfire semi-auto rifle for $25.  (said I wore it out)  :)

Dragging my fat arse up to a tall tree stand I managed to drop my mk77 20+ feet to the forest floor. nothing happened to the rifle but the scope was pretty messed up.  Sent it to leupold it came back better than new, no charge.

Gun manufactures and related are the most honest  group of business people I have ever dealt with... not only do they build a high quality and safe product that they take pride in... they allways go the extra mile.   They did all this before there was any fear of litigation.

If only every company had as much integrety as the old established gun companys do.

Well the gun is back, delivered today. Exactly 4 weeks from the day it shipped.

I am taking it to the range tonight to see if it workrs better.

I now have 2 CM mags and 2 Wilson mags for it.

If it works I will be a happy camper. If not sprinfield is going to get a earfull monday.

Hopefully this will take my mind of the dog.

Well I got home and took a look, the barrel hood was much tighter no play at all in battery. They replaced the extractor, the slide stop and barrel link.

They did not clean it after their test fire though! :D

I put about 200 rounds through it and it worked very well, only three failure to feeds and they were the chip Mccormick mags fault. Seems the mag follower, is tilting foreward and letting the nose of the round push down so it wont go up the feed ramp.

I wonder if Brownells will take them back?

They never clean guns after they testfire them.   There are so many ways to clean a gun that people have become finiky miltec and other coatings can be damaged by improper or wrong solvents.. plus.. you know they testfired if they leave it uncleaned.

Of the six CM mags i have used a lot in three guns..  all worked flawlessly.   Send em to me if you can't get a refund.. I'll make you a deal on em.
