Pounding on the glass
« on: June 08, 2004, 01:04:10 AM »

Is it just me that's annoyed by the morons in the front row that stand up and pound on the glass whenever the play is near?

Do they think that the players will notice them?

What's the deal?

While watching the finals, it just reminded me of the irritation. Maybe it's ABC and the microphones they seem to place all around the glass. Ever been to a game? It's amazing how quiet it can get. You can actually hear the skates on the ice. Hell... I remember watching Marty McSorley knock a guy on to the ice and then I could almost swear that I could hear him above the roar of the crowd exclaim, "Get Up!" Before the Great Western Forum closed down, they had microphones down on the ice and they would amplify and repeat the sound throughout the arena. Damn, it was annoying. Completely changed the feel of spectating.

...but I digress...

Anyway, on the few occasions that I've been inside the 5th row, I've always been annoyed by the bellybutton clowns in the first row that feel the overwhelming need to stand up, pound the glass, and block the view of everyone down low behind them. It just baffles me that someone this stupid can afford tickets this good.

Yes its annoying.

In Philly some ushers will come down and warn people not to do it if seen once... but others dont enforce it.

Either way, Im not sure what they are trying to accomplish... getting the attention of a player totally focused on the play with 25,000 other fans screaming, perhaps?
