Quick question.  Will there be an LSO on the deck in the future?  I think it would make landings easier as well as add some realistic qualities.  Anyone else want an LSO???

I think they've hired Fatty as an LSO, digitized him, then will paste his little characture on the LSO spot of the deck.  Included are sound bites of wretching and puking if you crash but live...a sound bite of laughing if you crash and die, and if you are successful, the little characture will give you a thumbs up, then grab its groin.

I asked HT about this last night in the MA.  He said probably not in the first implementation, or something to that effect.

I also asked him if the carrier is going to pitch and roll in the water.  He said that it is easy to code, but he is still debating that, depending on how difficult/impossible it makes landings.

Hey carrier landings make the carrier piilots "aviators".

Should be a little challenging at the least to you tailhookers.

Not as hard as landing the 190 on a carrier though. I shall do it; I figure I ditch with gears up, then slide and hopefully stop before I reach the end of the ship.

Worth trying

Hmmm...An LSO... I was watching a documentary about carriers the other day and they have a guy talking a pilot through landing there...

I wonder if it was possible to have such a guy on deck waving some paddles showing you if your approach was any good? Did they have them in WW2?

p.s. And no, we don't want no stinkin' easymode landings!!! Lets have wind, waves - the works! If you crash - you crash and go off-line to practice!

Agh! No easy-mode carrier landings please. That'd be a huge step back

"No easy-mode carrier landings please."

Amen. No. Double, triple amen!! If they add easy mode carrier landings then I have to send a Christmas card to Jekyll along with a full page "Apology" advert in the New York Times. And if I do that I'll be too broke to even post a "bye" message here after I cancel my account.

How long is that carrier deck? How long is the landing run of the average fighter in AH? I think that Fw 190 can make it. After all, the F8F was a carrier plane...

If we *don't* get a rolling, pitching carrier deck, it'll be because less experienced pilots wont be able to trap at all.

So...

I'd be more than happy if HT codes some kinda push one key auto-land if it allows the rest of us to have realistic carrier landings. Why not, right?
