LOL the new bands are simply a JOKE compared to the older bands.
Sorry but thats just the way It Is.
not all, sure the pop bands are for the most part lame, but there has been some decent rock coming out all along.
more than once I've had to yell down to my sons room "what the hell are you listening too?"
"sorry, I'll turn it down"
"no crank it up, that ain't half bad. who is it?"
you have to wade through a lot of crap to find the good stuff, but have you forgotten journey, stix, the beegees? I waded through a lot of crap back then too. there where dozens of groups that would send me diving for the tuner when they came on the stereo, as I was growing up.
one nice thing about mp3's and high quality sound cards is just about anybody can do a net release of their music without having to fit the cookie cutter of some record exec to get heard.
to be honest I don't hear enough new stuff to suit me, most of the best never makes it to the radio(and I felt the same way as a kid. my favorite tracks where always on the back of the albums and never got any air time).
the only real difference in the situation now, as apposed to then is that now I own enough music that I could play stuff I already know I like, 24 hours a day for 4-5 days before I have to repeat a song, so I'm not as hungry to find new stuff.
btw- ripping everything to mp3 is deffinately the way to go. my original cd's are now just opened, ripped to the HD, and put away as back-ups.
I have about 450 albums on my HD. my car has an mp3 cd player in it, we use the dvd-player and suroundsound for a stereo, and my boombox for work, and all of our personalcd players read mp3. every 60 cent disc you carry in your case is like another 10 album cartridge for a cd changer.
and a nice bonus, when your car gets broken into they don't get your originals, just cheap copies.
