LOL My middle pick up went out some I am going to try some Van Zandt pick ups do you knnow anything bout them?

Number 1 has always been a bit of a mystery. I have seen where Rene said that it was a '59 neck and body but the pick ups where dated later, around '61 or so.

I don't think we'll ever really know until Fender releases their detailed analysis of Number 1.

Can you imagine how much it would go for today at a formal auction like Clapton did a few years back? I'd say 1.5 million as a good figure for it.

I have a set of Texas Specials I am going to drop into my strat someday...I've had them for 4 years and haven't replaced my stock pick ups yet. I may do that soon though.

Yeah Got Tx specials in my SRV sid strat.
They are very HOT!

The story goes that rene took the pick ups from #1 to this Van Zandt guy and he re wound them or sometging like that.
BTW come to find out I live about 20 miles from Rene and he is going to do a set up on my stick as soon as he gets time.

I mean how cool is that.
