TO buy or NOT to buy...that is the question!
« on: May 19, 2004, 05:17:48 PM »
Ok ok , got a 4.7 Dodge V8 Dakota that sucks gas like a crack head! Get about 11mpg.

I can trade it in on a car (due to a new job) and I dont need a truck for work anymore....BUT Im buried in the truck, and will be buried in the next vehicle I buy. SO

Im interested in buying a Motorcycle (used of course) and paying cash. Use it for personal running around since Im single now.

But Im getting airfield flack, GV flack, and City Ack from people about a bike??

just curious what my AH junkies suggest....

MwXX, Wait!!

Your Dakota has something wrong with it!  I have the same engine in my Dakota and get  between 18 and 20 mpg.(Auto Trans)

My results are very typical for this motor.  Before you give up on the dakota and spend a lot of dough, have your truck checked out!

Gimme a break, gas goes up a few pennies and folks dump fine (if you can actually call mopar fine:) ) vehicles.  shame.  here's the clue it uses the same amount of gas as before.

Mine was a little better, 20-25. Definitely have it checked out. Probably just needs a few sensors changed.

A bike is great. Just remember the weather will change while you are at work. Carry a rainsuit.

Dang 20-25?  WTG RPM.. any secrets?   I have a 2002 that pretty much just sits in the garage now(bought a company van) but I could never squeeze more than 20 out of it. Mine is the club cab 2WD sport.

I would suggest getting your truck checked as well. Bikes are fun , but they can be a nuisance if that is your only mode of transportation. They are dangerous. Many times not due to rider but due to others that dont pay attention to them. As and Ex rider , I speak from expierence.

If your lil V8 is getting that bad of mileage..get it checked....My 350 V8 in my car is getting 26.3 right now according to the computer readout on the dash. And thats been running for about 6 weeks now.

Mine was the '96 club cab SLR. I used it on a 1 1/2 hour commute and racked up a lot of miles in a hurry.  I also ran Prolong in the oil and tranny. Never gave be a bit of trouble.

I love to ride.

Just don't ever let your SA slip while you're riding.  You'll end up being hamburger.  The fact that an accident was the other person's fault because they didn't pay enough attention isn't any comfort when you're stuck on your back in a hospital.

You also have to think about gas prices in the future.

Prices will continue to rise.

Well, depends upon who gets elected.

Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
