Was wondering if anyone has been runnning AH2 on amd 64s....

Pc wasn't working we I got home from a long weekend....believe it's only a power supply issue, but if mobo/processor prob....then ugh - in for an early upgrade.

Just curious if there have been any reported issues about the 64bit architecture and games.

thanks,
Waffle

AMD's 64bit process is actually an extension of the 32bit, so it will run all 32bit applications just fine I think.  However, a few years down the road when Microsoft's next OS, the 64bit "longhorn" or whatever it's called these days, will take advantage of the 64bit process for new programs.  All 32bit progs will have to be patched or something.

I should have had my new Athlon 64bit today.... I've been waiting for almost a week.  Newegg usually isn't this slow ;)  I blame Fedex.  Tomorrow should be the day (as I've said the last 5 days now :D).   Once I have it up and running I'll get back to ya.

Octavius,

Actually the x86 64 bit version of Windows XP should be out later this year.  3rd quarter probably.

I'd have no concerns with AH, but I do have concerns about initial driver availability as the drivers for your hardware will need to be 64 bit.  The move to 64 bit is now inevitable really, as Intel is also going to be releasing x86 64 bit chips.  Because of that the driver situation will get better pretty quickly, but older hardware or hardware from companies that have folded (my SCSI RAID card) are probably out of luck.

 Yes I'm runnin AMD Athlon 3200 + 64 Bit  on Mstar board , 1 Gb ddr2 400 Ram.  160 GB 7200 rpm

 Soundblaster Audgy MP3 soundcard
BFG Asylum Nvidia 5700 Ultra 128 MB ddr2 , latest Nvidia drivers
Latest version DX 9

Frame rates are at 100 or abv in Aces High II no screen stutter or freezes or lockups , it just works *****in'

Also using avradionet  wireless for internet connection ,
connection speed 580 Kbs uplink/downlink . ping rates are consistantly at 75 .

  Hope this helps .

A64 3200+
1GB DDR400
Gigabyte K8N Pro
GeForce4 Ti-4400
using the onboard sound

This processor pushes real hard and at the moment my bottleneck is the video card. Other than that I don't experience any slow or choppy frames in AH2 and in other games I don't have any slow down when loading the game. IL-2: Forgotten Battles AEP now loads about 3 times faster than it took my AMD 2600 XP with 512MB DDR333 to load. The same goes for AH1 once I click on the AH icon I am ready to get to the server.

Ok  - new power supply in......the pc fires up and then dies.....
wonder if we had storms here while I was gone.....

Something possibly fried?

Disconected all PCI / AGP cards and Drives...left one 512 stick of ram in and fired it up again...CPU fans runs for about 1.5 seconds then shuts down...

looking at accountant balance and AMD64s....lol

Any clues as to what to test next?
