Skin request for Greebo

I haven't got the skin creation skills to make this one but since you are working on F4U's could you possibly bang out the following aircraft:

I'd love to help Reschke, but apart from the F4U-1 none of the Corsair models allow that sort of scheme. They all use the same texture for the top and bottom of the tail and the D at least uses the same bit of skin for the top and bottom of the cowl. So basically, its all dark blue or nothing. Hopefully when HTC get round to updating the F4U art they'll eliminate this annoying feature.

All of F4U-1/-1A of VF-17, use three tone camouflage with non-specular sea blue, non-specular intermediate blue and non-specular white.

All blue camouflage is only for F4U-1D and F4U-4, not F4U-1A.

F4U-1A - Three Tone Livery:

1.  Non-Specular sea blue on the upper surfaces.
2.  Non-Specular intermediate blue for the vertical surfaces - the tail and the lower half of the fuslage sides.
3.  Non-Specular white for the underside and the lower parts of the fuselage, except for the folding section of the wing which was considered as an upper surface and was therefore painted non-specular intmediate blue.

CC Rafe, I just did a Google on VF-17 and pretty much came to that conclusion. Was just editing my post as you were replying. I have found a few profiles of "A" Hawgs done in the all blue scheme though, guess they were repainted in the field.

I think what Greebo is asking is, does anybody have a later war, all blue F4U-1D sceme for VF-17 so he could do a -1D instead.

That was what I was asking Grits, but VF-17 were disbanded in early 44 a few months after the all blue scheme was introduced. I found a photo of the disbanding ceremony with a row of their planes and they were all the 3 tone scheme.

I never heard that "A" Corsair use as Glossy Sea blue like "D" Corsair and I have seen alot photos of "D" Corsair (Prototype) use the three tone camouflage, but it was very rare before producation beginning.

Most of VF-17 I know that they use two different camouglage schemes like the two tone livery and the three tone.  Yes, most of them have been repainted in the field for new camouflage and also new roundels (United States Star).  The red border only appear in June 1943 thru August 1943, but most of VF-17 Corsair use them and some do not, However again. Corsairs with red bordered roundels can still be seen up until December 1943.  After 1943, -1/-1A use painted in two or three tones, the roundels were now bordered with the same blue as the disc of the roundel.

Was just wondering since I truly don't care for the current VF-17 skin in the game. Its not bad but its just not representative of what they took to the Solomons in late 1943. Its more of the scheme they trained with in the area around Norfolk all through early and mid 1943 before shipping out with the -1A model Corsair.

Perhaps if we all nag HTC enough, they'll change the art to allow non monotone schemes when its updated.
