odd little controls problem
« on: May 23, 2004, 05:39:48 PM »
This is driving me batty.

I use a gameport setup of CH Flightstick, CH Pro Throttle, and CH Pro Pedals, same one I've used for 7+ years with nary an issue except having to clean the pots. It works flawlessly with AH1.

However, with AH2 I can't get the rudders to register properly.

No matter what combination of deadband, damping, and scaling I use, the response (as viewed on the joystick settings graph) is screwy as hell.

The rudder wants to snap all the way to full after responding slowly for for the first half of its travel to left, and snap all the way to full, same way, before settling back to halfway with pedal fully depressed to the right.

Yes I've re-calibrated in Windows then AH2, several times. And, again, I don't have this problem in AH1, never had it in Air Warrior, but its been present in AH2 in every beta version I've tried.

Any ideas out there?

Try importing your AH1 settings  to AH2.  The latest beta will prompt you, but if you went by that point, I beleive you can simply copy the contents of the AH1 settings folder to the AH2 settings folder.  Doing this will insure you have a good joystick configuration in AH2.  On the odd chance that this could screw things up, make a copy of the AH2 settings folder first.

Oh I tried that right away, just to make sure I got an "apples to apples" comparison. The graph in AH1 calibration responds smoothly in correspondence with pedal travel, yet is whacky in AH2, even with the same settings.

Given that AH2 is seeing input from the rudders  it would seem to be a calibration issue............

Looks almost like you have two devices out putting to one input........

Your cpu and graphics are really bottom end for AHII...............

Set every thing to max performance..........

256 textures
limit FR to 45
min object distance
min object size
min object detail

Same with graphics card AAA etc.

Then re calibrate JS in AH2.

You would better recalibrate in AHII , I had the same trouble before recalibrating...just after a calibration where I forgot to move an axis
