How to make AH films work in RealPlayer
« on: November 20, 2000, 09:55:00 PM »
Does anyone know How to make AH films work in RealPlayer or Media player?.

The reason I'm asking is I have a very nice movie made with the Jane's WW2 Fighter mission builder, its supposed to be a 30 second opening sequence but I made it 45 minutes!  .. Anyway the only way to view film is to load ww2f.. I was thinking "well shoots".. there must be a way to convert these type of game files not only for Jane's but Ace's High too eh?

I think if you convert it to a .rm or mpeg or anything else (if possible) you will have a MASSIVE file on your hands because the replay uses a very simple code that the game itself builds the film with using its graphic engine(which make me doubt that making any type of media file would be so difficult). but if you did you would have to make the code of the clip elaborate enough to be showen without the graphics engine of the game. All that extra data would make the file  huge. It may be possible but putting it on the internet with less that a t-1 would be pretty impracticle.

there have been a few people here that have made AH videos. But, they involve a video capture card, a vcr, tv out, and lots of HD time and space. Oh, don't forget about that video editing software.

My squaddie Milenko has made a few films, From what I understand, you have to have a video card with a video out port. I think he ran the video out to a vcr, then copied them back in while dubbing shots together, etc. Seems to be a pretty big proccess.

There are links to milenkos films on the assassins webpage in my signature below. Click on 'milenkos wallpaper' on the links to the left. I like the "welcome to the jungle" one.

I think that the main problem of that is, that theres no AH movie 2 MPG converter around..=) You could ask HT to make such feature to game (BTW this should be a must actually). The movies are viewable only on AH engine, BUT...I dont know if theres any external programs, that can make video files from screen happenings (eg. like PSP screenshot feature).
I personally think that such kind of proggies are would be very complicated and surely not freeware.
I suggest, that you run search on the net for that issue.

I have worked a bit with the Camtasia package. It works really well. Download the free 30days version.
