I downloaded AHII today and got the following message:

"Your video adapter does not support Hardware T&L. It will not be able to run AHII"

I have downloaded Direct X 9.0

Do I need a better/different video card?

Yes.
Let me guess, you have onboard graphics or Nvidia TNT2.

You will at least have to upgrade to Nvidia Geforce 2 or similar product by ATI.

My graphics controller is an Intel(R) 82865G, which I think is integrated into the system.

Bingo. You will not be able to play AH2 with it. You must upgrade your vid card.
