Don't know if this would count, but I still can picture it clearly in my mind,
I was a Junior in high school and played football, we had made the playoffs, so our game was at a different stadium, I picked up my friend in my 66 Dodge dart( boy I wish I still had that car :) )
it had been raining lightly, so like all idiot kids in high school I made a turn at about 45 mph onto northbound central ave, a busy 4 lane street, and proceeded to spin uncontrollaby, as I turned into the spin I went up on my 2 left wheels and was heading straight at a semi truck, as I cut the wheel we tipped over to the right and proceed to continue on the two right wheels just missing the semi and heading to a large Metra Bus, I cut the wheel again, and we somehow got on all 4 wheels and as I spun I managed to straighten it out again and continued northbound at a slightly slower pace, my friend Ken then said to me " You might want to make those turns a little slower from now on"  - and we laffed our arses off in that scared hysterical way...
Needless to say, I still picture it in that slow motion way..it seemed like everything slowed down to 1/4 speed ...
to me was near death... I still feel that fear when I think about it

I slipped face first in a tunnel full of mud while one a speleology run, I passed out for a moment & woke up with my head under water (under mud actually, the only thing sticking out was my lower chest and my legs). Luckily enough, I was attached to a rope & my buddies pulled me out.  I remember being very calm about it... untill I got out, then I started shaking like **** and didn't stop untill I got out of the cave.

I still dream about it sometimes.

I was also being followed by an "Italian brother" once, but I do run very fast, pfew :)

One summer when I was about 19 I was at a set of waterfalls near here that fall about 55~60 odd feet into a deep water pool.
Being young and eager not to seem like the chicken**** of the bunch, I followed a bunch of mates up to the top of the falls, where you could jump out into the water.

Got to the top, looked out and went "nah....too far to jump, I dont care what you all say, Im going back down".
Turned around to start climbing back down, and lost my footing.
I knew I was going over the edge, so the only thing I could do was try and kick off so I would get out far enough to land in the water without hitting any rocks.

The whole way down I thought I was a goner, all that was between me and a big mess on the rocks below was about two seconds worth of free fall.
And they were without a doubt the looooooongest two seconds of my life.
I was calm as could be, I just thought "Well, this is it , you've screwed up for the last time" and wondered if it would hurt much.
Time slowed down, a few differant things from my life flashed through my mind, and the rock face whizzing past a few centimetres from my face was in ultra sharp focus.
Then I hit the water, half rolled upside down, so that my shoulder blade and upper back hit first, knocking the wind clean out of me.

Next thing I know, I'm about 15 or 20 ft under water, winded, staring up at the light filtering through the water, thinking " How bad does this suck? You missed the rocks, now your gonna drown"
It's weird I know, but it took a huge mental effort to convince myself to get moving upwards.
I have no idea how I managed to not breathe in while I was down there, but I made it to the surface just as everything was starting to go black.

I swam to the shore, only about 3 metres or so, hauled myself out and just collapsed in a quivering mess on the sand, utterly exhausted. I dont know how or why, but every last drop of energy I had had been drained in those few seconds under water.
I couldnt stop shaking for hours afterwards, and even now when i think about it it gives me a bit of a chill.
It was close, way too damn close, and it was all my own stupid fault.

I still wake up and think "You lucky bastard, you shoulda died that day"
From that day on, I've considered pretty much everything to be a bit of a bonus, a couple of inches less push off, and I would have been at the very least badly injured, another half second of indecision at the bottom of my fall, and I wouldnt have made it to the surface before gulping in a lungfull of water.
Something was on my side that day, and it sure wasnt common sense.
Believe me, being winded with a couple of metres of water over your head isnt much fun, I dont reccomend it at all :)

On my twenty first birthday I was fortunate enough to knock on a mates door while he was busy being house invaded.
The door opened and a dude in a ski mask stuck a sawn off 12 Gauge in my face and said "Get on the floor"
Being unarmed, and absolutely plastered from celebrating all day, I just did what he said, and hit the floor.
I've often thought about it since then, and wondered if I would have reacted differantly if I was sober.
Im pretty sure I would have reacted differantly had I been armed.
At the time, apart from pure self preservation making me do as I was told, I had a hard time grasping the fact that the whole thing was serious.

Me showing up and banging on the door wasnt quite what the guys in the ski masks had intended apparently, they grabbed my wallet out of my pocket, threw my smokes in the fish tank (the bastards....that was just uncalled for....health conscious home-invaders??) and left.

Afterwards, we figured out that with the contents of my wallet, plus what they had taken from my mate and his girlfriends wallets, they made off with a total of $82....what a haul eh?.

I was a spotter for a sniper who went crazy.  So crazy that I awoke with the bastiges knife to my throat.

Luckily he started screaming, "Potpie" and then passed out.

After that I have to create a liter and drag him out of that South American jungle.

I still shake from it.

[edit] I also blew out my ACL.  But I can't remember whether I did it in the Army trying out for the Rangers or in a near-death accident on my motorcycle.

Well, since I started this thread, I might as well tell about my experience.
Two friends of mine and had been up all night drinking, smoking pot and snorting coke. The sun's about to come up, so we decide to take a "dawn patrol" road trip. Just after the sun came up, I'm driving my friend's VW bug up this mountain highway. All of a sudden, I feel like I'm going to pass out. My vision starts fading slowly into a tunnel like the lens on a camera when it starts closing, but in slow motion. The last thing I remember is skidding to a stop on the shoulder of the road. The next thing I remember is my friend standing by the driver's door(which is open)and helping me out of the driver's seat. I had pissed all over myself and my friend told me that my heart had stopped beating and that he had to punch me in the chest and give me mouth to mouth. I gave up drugs shortly afterwards and haven't used any since 1981.

:(

P.S. The friend that helped me that night died of a drug overdose seven years later.

Ride a bike and you'll have one atleast once a week. Race a bike on the track and you'll have one 3 or 4 times in a weekend.  :D

I fell asleep in my Barco-Lounger while watching a curling tournament and spilled my beer.

When I awoke, I was deeply depressed as there was a good 10 ounces spilled out on the floor.  My Sig P226 was in the kitchen, but it was on the other side of the refrigerator and luckily I had a cold half case in the fridge.

That was a close one.
