Slow taxi wobbling
« on: May 27, 2004, 03:52:15 PM »
When first accelerating for takeoff or slowing down after landing, my aircraft invariably 'wobbles' left and right in a rather extreme manner that I find hard to control - as though the tires were too soft or something.  I believe that my rudder input scale is properly adjusted.  Does anyone else have this problem?

I do recall a similar issue long ago in AH1 either during beta, or after a patch, and it went away after another patch.

Turn on "Auto Takeoffs".  You're probably torque-steering from your engine being rev'd up.  The torque effect in AH2 is much harsher than AH1 and can actually send you into a spin at lower speeds if you aren't careful.  On the runway it is bad too.  Let the computer take care of takeoffs until you get used to it :)

As far as landing, haven't done that yet with AH2 ;)

I had the same issue.  I set the stick configuration back to the defaults and it has become much easier to control.   I had some dampening dialed in before.  Guess is has something to do with that.

Not a big fan of the auto take-off.

I normally use auto for the first 50 ft. or so since I'm lazy.  But once rolling its back to manual.

I dampened my throttle as I kept tail-spinning when doing slow, low dogfights.  Its much easier to control now....

Ussually its a rudder overcontrol issue.

Try useing the wheel brakes at slow speeds instead of the rudder.
