Looking for a font
« on: May 26, 2004, 04:27:55 PM »
Sort of a shot in the dark here, but I'm trying to locate a font I had years back. I'm pretty sure I lost it in a format at some point, and just discovered it was missing. It was based on the handwriting of a real cowboy poet from the 1800's. After looking through a ton of backup CD's, and spending hours slogging through the web, I've yet to track it down. Does anyone, by chance, happen to know the font in question?

Thanks!

No, that one I've seen and it looks nothing like the one I had. It's a handwriting font with rather squashed letters, sort of like the subtitle on this site...

http://www.pbs.org/empires/japan/index.html

...Only the capital letters weren't as high and the lower-case ones were a tad wider. I'm also looking for the subtitle font on the above site. If you've got either one, Rosco, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know!!

That's a nice little collection, but unfortunately it didn't look like any of those. Last time I remember using this lost offender was several years ago, so the name isn't something I recall. About the best I can do as far as looks is the above link's subtitle which I'm also hunting for. It's a rather squat cursive font typical of 1800's handwriting that could also pass for the style of writing used in the Bill of Rights. I know, not much help. But it's the best I can do for a description.

Thanks again Rosco!

That's the subtitle font, alright! Nice goin Rosco! Unfortunately I can't find a free download of it anywhere; it's a commercial font. I did find two or three with identical names to Cezanne, but that's all the two had in common. The sites you listed all have links back to font.com which only sells fonts; no freebies. Every search I've run only comes up with the commercial joints. But that's definitely it!

The cowboy font lowercase looks quite a bit like the lowercase of Cezanne. The two share a general style anyway. If you want to take this to e-mail, mine is delta6 at bigfoot dot com.

Edit: Found the cowboy font! It's called Texas Hero. Texas Hero I also found a similar font called Letter 1882. Cezanne can, supposedly, be had as Poison the Well. Unfortunately I haven't been able to track it down.
