just a strat idea

No more "field" capture.

Divide maps up into  regions.  In each region place the standard factories and multiple cities.  All AF's and VF's are satellites of their parent city and each city may have 3-4 or more fields associated with it.  Material is produced by the factories to supply the cities, and the cities in turn supply the fields.  Make the distance between enemy fields about 2 sectors, but the distance to the cities, where the fighting should take place,  about 1 sector from opposing teams fields.  The cities are placed such that their capture should represent the moving of a front line.

The destruction of the city reduces resources for the fields fed by that city.  This does not blanket lower resources at individual fields, but one by one takes fields out of action.

Any field that is still operating has 100% of all material need to prosecute a war until its parent city is damaged to the point that the field becomes unusable and unselectable.

Once a city's damage is at like 90%, there will be no local fields left to support it.

A city is captured by 100% damage or some number of (say 5-10) gv's parked in front of the town hall.

Once a city is captured, all associated satellite field are captured along with it.

I had a pretty picture, but I am to lazy to scan it.
