a few things i found...
« on: May 29, 2004, 01:38:10 AM »
when an enemy is low (below  150 feet AGL approx) the icons for it go "under" the terrain for me. a rather odd view, and makes reading the distance impossible.

in the 205 the fuel gauge text (like A-MAIN) extends outside of the text box it is meant to be inside of.

the terrain bump mapping (i think thats what it is) around the shore batteries on some fields flickers or "strobes" from a distance of greater than 5 miles. you get close enough it smooths out gradually.

in a manned field gun tonight i was "killed" when a CV gun killed the field gun. it immedately put me in another gun on the field withough going to the tower, but that second gun i could only move up and down.

after going to the tower and back into the gun i could move... untill a shell from the CV guns hit the airfield anywhere. then the view would snap back to default and i could only move up and down. hopping back and forth from the tower to the gun resolved it each time, until the CV shell hit again. this was all at base A12 on baltic.

i have the sliders for detail about 4/5 to the max, distance to 3 miles, all boxes for mip and bump mapping and stuff checked, unlimited FPS, 1024*768 res, tried numerous settingd for texture size from 256 to unlimited. i did refresh the plane cache and restart the game each time.

the only setting i did not change was the max texture slider or whatever.. goes from 1-5 then a check box for unlimited. i dont know what that does and it is set to whatever default is.

Heya JB :)

Ditto on everything you mentioned.

-The field gun happened to me a few versions ago but was unable to replicate it.  It seems you found the culprit.

-P40E and P40B (most likely others as well) also suffers from the "A-MAIN" extending beyond the fuel tank "box".

-Flickering still occuring here too with the shore batteries.  Flickering also "transition" tiles (I think thats hte proper name for them).  Shorelines, edges of forests/trees, and other random spots gives textre flickering.

Might be a problem there. Set your destop resolution to 1024x768 if it is not. YMMV. Hope this helps. :)
