Went nuts after Christmas and bought a set of CH rudder pedals and CH fighterstick J/S. Besides not being able to strafe a m3 anymore, I was wondering if anyone had any stick-mapping, hints to help with this transistion.

Do you have Conrtol Manager 3.0? If not get it.

I have AH set up with all mapped buttons through CM as three separate CH devices, with only the control axies set through the AH setup page.

Interestingly, they work fine in AH2 but they did not work with my AH setup, I had to change the mapping so that AH2 saw only one big device instead of three individual ones otherwise it would not work. AH would only work as three separate, not one big one. Odd eh?

I can send you my maps if you want to check them out.

Currently I am not using CM3.0 in ah - just programming the buttons/axis throught the ah  interface. too much stuff on here..lol
Right now working on stick sets 1-4, but using them to have 4 sets of views for the POV hat. Pain in the arse - gonna be here forever!

VERY, VERY easy to program CH USB CH CNTRL MGR.

Read the manual, plus join the NEW CH BBS ALA REVIN.

I have the CH Fighterstick USB and Pro Pedals.  I started to learn the Control Manager stuff and someone even sent me their map program.  Turns out it was easier to simply go into AH's joystick and key mapping and set it all up that way.  You might also try adjusting the stick sensitivity to where you feel comfortable with it.

Here's the way I have mine set up in AH

trigger = all guns

single red button on right side = primary gun (machine gun on tank, for example)

single red button on top = secondary gun (drop bombs or shoot missiles from fighter, for example)

red pinky button = zoom in/out

grey thumb switch = flaps up/down, rudder trim left/right

castle switch on top = elevator trim up/down (comes in handy in 109s), aerleron trim left/right

pointy hat switch on top = point of view

switch with ridges on top = can't remember, probably not mapped.

Now that you can do all this stuff on your stick, fly the 109Gs and P-38 and you'll find that the elevator trim mapped to the stick is a big improvement over doing it with the keyboard.

Grits, all you have to do is copy and paste your stick setup into AH2 and you'll have no problems with AH2 seeing all 3 of the CM devices.

GoFaster, I'd recommend you don't use the joystick trim and actually use the AH based trim keys. If you use the joystick trim you will lose airspeed, minimal airspeed, but even a little bit of E can save your life. Not to mention you can rip wings at high speed in some aircraft if you even nudge the trim tabs.

Waffle, I'm not sure you have the prothrottle, but its better to have your view there to keep your stick hand doing as little work as possible (least imho). You want to also use the sliders to dampen the stick a little, its a bit too responsive otherwise.

Hi gofaster :)  would u be so kind as to SHOW me HOW u managed to program ur keys in AH Stick Set-up to the "grey thumb switch, castle switch & the switch with all the ridges" pls
as I seem to have trouble programming these to my Fighterstick
USB.  Would u pls list the steps for me the way u programmed urs

Thx 4 ur courtesies & help,

Happy1  :D

P.S.  I don't want to map my keys via the Control Manager 3.0, I
think programming via AH Joystick & key mapping is easier.

I've got the full CH Setup myself (CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Pedals, CH Pro Throttle).  At first I was turned off by the Control Manager and it seemed hard as heck to do.  I found a nice CMC file that has all the commands for AH written into it.  Once I had that it was extremely simple and quick to setup the key mapping.

If someone needs it you can go to ch-hangar.com or I can send it to you.  Once you've got it, it's very simple and quick to set your stuff up.  You can map every button twice and use the shift command for the secondary functions.

Oh and Waffle as for it being hard to hitting anything now I know what you mean.  I went from an X45 to the CH setup and couldn't hit crap for days.  It drove me nuts to say the least.  The stick itself just seemed awkward and I couldn't get use to it.  Over time I stopped worrying about it and it started to become natural.  Now I don't even notice it much.  The rudders come in extremely handy as I'm sure you'll soon find out.
