The best PCI card I know of is the VisionTek XTasy 9100 128 MB (factory clocked 250/250, other brands of the 9100 may be clocked 230/250 or even 230/230). Every comparative review I have ever seen indicates the 9100 pci stomps the 5200 pci.

I put one in my wife's e-Machine before we got married so I could play games when I was visiting.

Technically, it is equivalent to a Radeon 8500LE with a souped up BIOS, but this card has never ceased to amaze me.

My wife completed Prince of Persia using this card. It looked and played great. Aces High (version 1), Strike Fighters:Project 1, and Operation Flashpoint/Resistance all run fine with this card.

There are tradeoffs between quality settings and resolution. The card and PCI bus are not fast enough to do both. At 1024x768x32 you can run with high quality. At 1280x1024 with medium quality. 1600x1200 is possible but not very fast even with lowest quality settings.

I liked this card so much that I replaced a Voodoo 5500 in one of my old computers with one the AGP version. It performs even better with AGP and is easily the equal of my Radeon 8500 128MB (factory clocked 275/275).

The only problem is I just noticed this week on price watch that all of the 9100s have just about disappeared. Just a week ago VisionTeks were still available. You can probably find one at e-Bay.

Whats up Jet, its going to be hard getting a new mobo for for your Dell. You may have to buy a new case. Thats the reason why you don't buy exspensive premade computers. If you ever want to get a new PC i will help you on it. It will be cheaper and run 2 times faster than your Dell.

Best way to go about building a new system for you two is to start here...   http://www.accessmicro.com/

They install the CPU, burn and test it and even put a warranty on it. I'd stay as far away from dell as posible.

Spend some time at this site, read through the tech forums that are out there. There are hundreds if not thousands of tech forums that are full of very good info. And whats better, is they are full of people which dont only offer their opinion and walk away. They give you tests, examples, comparisons ect.

But I would really recomend you do a bit of health research before you jump into building your own box.

btw- there is a trend developing in the tech world showing Gefroce based cards performing better than ATI cards on games such as AH2.

So you MAY want to stick with a Geforce Card.

all P4 motherboards will need 2x256 or 2x512 to work.... you need dual.

unless you make the P4 performance even worse and use a single channel board

what about AMD? a XP2500 (or lower) + a cheap VIA board will cost half as much as a P4 system...which = more for ram, or gfx card.......

I find no evidence of this what-so-ever, I use a ATI 9800Pro with Omega's latest drivers and have zero problems in AHII and about every other game I play {which is 5 times more graphiclly intensive than the AH series}
Maybe, just maybe...it's AH and not the hardware & software that has been tested and proven in the gaming community.

Have a great day:cool:
