The splash screen still doesn't minimize for a firewall alert .
It is an annoying bug.

lol - I gather its a ZA issue.
Actually that makes sense - if ZA is sending the alert it should do the minimizing. I just thought AH might have something preventing it from minimizing. I've played a few games that take over your machine to prevent running 2nd programs etc. I thought it was something like that. My bad :D

TweetyBird,

If you've got the Pro version of ZA, go to the Programs section and right click on the AH.exe executable and select 'Changes Frequently'.  This will make it so that you don't have to grant AH access everytime you update it.

Acctualy it is a zone alarm bug, with socket there is a none blocking mode connect. So that as the connect messages are going back and forth you don't have to hang on that call. This is the form I use. Well what zone alarm dosn't do correctly is return imidiatly from that call, and then fail at a later time. Since it dosn't return like it suppose to. AH hangs on that connect. Now since AH is hung, it can't minimize itself. Hence it realy is a zone alarm bug.

In previous betas I tried doing a threaded connect to work around zone alarm. For some resone there were a few people like nopoop who could not connect at all with this method. I could not find out why. Hence I took the threaded code back out.

Ok that explains it - I do remember a couple of versions where the screen did minimize. Last night a squad mate politely reminded me to kiss (keep it simple stupid) - i.e.,  "ry" :D

I think I have found the problem or not.

First:  Go your Firewall(If you have McAfee firewall) and turn setting "Allow All"

Second:  Connect to Aces High II and enter AHII Beta Area.

Third:  Minimize AHII

Fourth:  Turn "Filter" back on and a pop up will appear

I have no trouble at all and if not understanding, I'll rewrite again.

Hi Tweety Bird,

I did not get the Message Box. I have Zone Alarm Freeeee Version so AH froze on me.

May I suggest this technique to others with Zone Alarm Free version. Whenever you update AH11 do the following :

1. Start AH11 but do not go online (Allows Zonealarm to detect the program)
2. Exit AH11 (alt tab is possible also), open Zonealarm and select program control. Clikc on the question mark next to the aceshigh.exe program and select Allow. Do this for all 4 question Marks (?)
3. Restart AH11 and enjoy the game.

This may be obvious to lot of you for may not be for others
