Tracers for the 8" guns (actually smoke trailes) have been added to AH2. But they cannot be seen at the far end of their trajectory. Although the shells can be seen hitting the ground, it can't be seen at a distance when shelling a land target and ground objects often obscure them.
This might be realistic, but it degrades the affectiveness of ship guns substantially. With the easy destruction of ship guns now, as if they were field ack, I fear the carriers and cruisers have been rendered irrelevent.
A reminder about defense. Without it one may as well bomb targets off line. Our to defend is pittiful. Field defense can be killed with a mere .30 cal. bullet, much easier than even a troop. A single plane attack can take out all the ack defense at a base. Then it turns into a vulch fest and the base is lost. Dive bombing B17s and Lancs have a ridiculously simple job of sinking carriers. And even with the 5" AA, it's difficult to bring down a bomber before it drops because of the number of hits required.
So, the carriers are useless for shelling land targets, their already weak defense can nor be easily destroyed, and they are now even more defenseless against buff divers. The game play discourages confrontation and bases cannot be defended. The only good defense left is numbers, so weakening of the defenses hurts the weaker team more.
What's the point?
