I like it, but then I also like AH1.  Why don't you download it and try it out for yourself?  What others like or don't like, you may feel differently about.

You are bound to hear all sorts of opinions ranging from "AH2 sucks man parts" to "its the bee's knees."  One thing you should know, in about a week, it may have gone through about 4 or more different versions as features are added and bugs squashed.

I enjoy it like I said.  It runs fine on my machine and is fairly stable.  The gunnery, FM, are definite upgrades.  The field layouts are much better.  The graphics are better, though its up to you to decide if they are a significant advance at this point in time (I like them and can see that they will only get better as subsequent features are added/modified).  The clipboard and the user interface has changed somewhat, though it is fairly similar. Again, this is a definite improvement, IMO, once I have gotten used to it.

The gameplay at this point is pretty much the same, though there are some differences from AH! that could change it in the long run.  The fuel availability and supply situation is modified a bit (the lowest amount that a field can be limited to through an attack is 75% right now).  You can strafe and kill guns on ships without sinking them.  The fuel multiplier (i.e. how fast the gas gets birned) is set to 2.0.  This is higher than the MA in AH1 so some planes have pretty short legs.

As with all things, there are some bad things.  There seem to be some bugs, but HT, Pyro, and the rest of the crew are hard at work fixing them.

Again, a lot of the good and bad is personal taste.  I like it and can only see it getting better in the future.

I haven't flown AH2 much,  but it does seem very AH1-like.  So far that is really good.  I was going to try out WW2 on-line, but now I will give AH2 a time to jell and see if I like it :)

There are some changes which will encourage me to try more HO.  I usually avoid HO in AH, but in AH2 you have several factors which will make a HO more lucrative or more necessary.

1. is the whole stuff of black oil on the windshield. Before you only got the bogey smoking, and he still has a chance to fight you for a bit essentially unscathed and maybe rtb.  Now you hit him in the snoot with a few rounds and he is somewhat blinded.  This ups the chance of winning a HO.

2. Is the loss of control during blackouts.  This will make any pilot wound a real opportunity for kill.  I will definately want to improve HO gunnery to get a chance on giving the bogey a pilot wound.

3. This will make high rate of fire gun sets, like the 6 - 50s more competative, as you are more likely to hit the oil or the pilot with all those shots.

So, I will become more of a HO fool in the new arena

Should be fun :)

And that is why I pay my monthly dues: to have fun, "realism" means spit to me :)
