I'm converting...(aka N80 for sale)

From film based SLR to digital...

Finally had a chance today to spend a few hours talking with a few people at my favorite Ritz. The first gentleman I spoke with was, while quite friendly, not very knowledgable. He did allow me to play around with the D70 using my own lenses though. I snapped a few shots and asked if he could print them. I explained that my biggest concerns for going digital were not being able to do black and white in camera and that some of the lower end digitals produced images that looked very flat (think Southpark animation).

Once we had the prints I was pretty disappointed in the quality. I sighed and had all but decided to stick with film until the next gen of digi came out. Given how much processing has been costing me lately, I wasn't very thrilled.

As I was about to head out the door, I asked about the comparison between the D70 and D100. He wasn't sure and set off to get the manager. That's when the fun started. She was very sharp on the cameras. First thing she asked was what type of shooting I did. She nodded, smiled, and said, "Here's the big difference" she pointed at the D100 and said "Professional." Then pointed at the D70 and said "Not professional." She also pointed out that the D70 would basically be a step backwards from my N80.

She then pointed out small things I hadn't even noticed, such as the D70 has no place for a release cable. That was a deal breaker right there. After that we snapped some photos with the D100 and my lenses. Huge difference from the D70.

The only thing the D100 wouldn't do was in camera black and white, but I figure I can devote my old EM to that. Just means packing along two bags instead of one when I go on shooting trips.

So, if anyone is in the market for a six month old N80 body that's only been used a few times, let me know.
