Request for clarification about AH2 capabilities
« on: June 14, 2004, 01:08:59 AM »
Since Hitech has been working on AH2 for some time now, I have to ask the obvious question: What will HTC be able to implement (down the road) in AH2 that was impossible in AH?

For example, I've heard the graphics engine is new.  Great, but what does it have that was missing in AH and how will we know it when we see it?

Any help with this will be appreciated.

See the shiny new lookin' Pony? All the other skins you can use?

The trees?

Looks pretty obvious to me.

Well, maybe it's that simple.  But somehow, I don't think Hitech spent over a year adding trees and skins.

I read somewhere that HT said that there are many new effects and stuff possible now but that are not yet implmented.

That menas we will see new stuff, like particle effects and such. But not yet, first AH2 has to be rolled out and working.

What exactly is possible wasnt mentioned, but I assume everthing that DX9 supports.

I saw hitech mentioning stuff like better particle effects, pixel and vertex sharders...you know, the cool DX9 stuff.

I dearly wish, that the next scheduled implementation after AH2 is officially on track, is replacing the sprite-based hit effects with particle effects.

The hit effects, is probably one of the most important special effects which relates to immersion. I'm willing to bet once we see new hit-effects AH2 will suddenly be looking totally different.

No not those evil shaders:(

My poor graphics card would need the aide of 3danalyze to run it (damn I hate nVidia for their trickery).

I guess what I'm really looking for isn't stuff like "better particle effects" & etc, but rather what Hitech intends (just general remarks, don't expect a core dump from HTC) to implement with AH2 that could not be readily implemented with AH.
