Actually you are wrong here. We are talking more than hard drive space, we are talking system memory and video memory.

Granted, there should be more than enough memory available on your vid card to hold about 25 planes each with a different paint scheme... maybe more.

But, what about loading the skin from the hard drive?

As is, the system does not pre-load anything. When it comes into view, it loads. If you get into a fight with every one and their mother flying custom skins you are looking at a hard drive load time you previously would of blown a piston over... for some skins that you'll very rarely even get close enough to see?

Well if you want that, fine, but I want an option to disable that garbage..

EDIT: We are also putting more information across the network... "player x is using plane#10 skin#20" Eventually keeping track of each person, his plane and the skin he is using is going to put a big hurt on your computer.

the bandwidth wouldnt be any greater than the noseart req we have now, though true the mem req would be higher

Okay, but you still have the image loading from the hard drive everytime a new paint scheme and/or plane comes into view.

Isn't worth it. Your system gets bogged down as it has to track more planes with different paint schemes. THere's more to it than just memory Zig.

Agree about 3-4 different camo for each plane with camo selector.

Also, as I posted already, some planes were flown by more than 1 country. Having 1 VVS camo for Spit IX could be nice too -- there are were a lot sent to USSR by lendlease.

i have 512 mb of ddr ram, i could put my entire AH install on a ram disk no problem

and i got that 512 mb for only 120 bucks...

fact is i am getting close to 100 fps in AH. do i want ag to turn into the unplayable fpsexperience like ww2ol? no. but id like to see more variety.

ive always said skins should be an optional thing. you could either choose to view others skins (which would be approved by a group of players chosen by htc like CM group) or just leave it with the default skin we have now.

:D ah! give it up, lets have all white planes that way it wont tax the systems at all, better yet, lets play it in a snow landscape with a snow storm    :) we can just fly icons around.

just eye candy  i know but id love to see it. how about only usable offline or in a special arena where schemes are chosen just like maps? you pick a scheme and a time of year and start a special event.

if superfly etc is already overtaxed let those 'skin artists'  ( ;)not me!) among us who can produce lovely models submit a few 'historic' winter or desert schemes for HTC to approve?
