I probably let the MA get the better of me-
« on: March 08, 2000, 09:28:00 PM »
So to you Knights at F8 tonight, I hope you accept my apology. At the time I was intensely trying to defend against wave after wave, and I took a comment out of context. I decided it was better to log than to lose my temper over it. Sorry if I was abrupt.

I guess the comment was mine and was about ack

I never wanted to be unfair. Kieren, you did an outstanding work keeping more than 10 planes loitering and dying there    . I only wanted to say that that damned ack was making us the things difficult, but with or without that ack, you did a impressive defence. <S> and sorry if I ofended you with the comment. Never tried to say you were huggin, cuz was an evidence that you weren't doing it   in fact I was downed by you twice, and both well far from the ack.

I think you know yet what do I think about you and your pilot skills. We both have met many times on TA and I've died SO many times on your hands...you are a wonderful pilot.

<S> again, man. Your excuses are rejected because there are no reasons for them. If anyone could've been offended it would've been you. I am sorry if I offended you...never meant to do it.

Hello mates _Have been keeping an eye on this BB even tho I'm still a WB H2H pilot.I've known Kieren for 3 yrs now of WB and AH posting and combat. Not only is Kieren a damn fine stick(lost my 2nd ever H2H duel to him-have not forgotten see!),but he is as fine a guy as youll ever want to meet.Outside of myself , I ve only met a few that still live by the chivalry code of old. Salute- my friend.Would still love to witness a 1 vs of Kieren vs Mighty.Hmmm will have to frequent the training/dueling arena as soon as I make the BIG transition from WB.(Am still hoping 3.0 will keep me with my first love -and that was another HT product!-Hmm!

Kieren. We all have THOSE nights. Tomorrow,s another day.

BTW. I have always ment to mention. I being a clumsy brute force kind of fighter. I have alway been intriged by the elegance of your fighting style. Your time in DOA was well spent.

Ram-

Wouldn't worry about that... I know you, and when I thought about the whole thing later I felt childish. About the only thing I did do right was logging when it started to get too much.

So, think nothing of it. Can't blame you guys for trying to take 8 back! S!

To the rest-

Thanks!

Last night our field F2 was also in trouble and there were several rooks F4Us P38s etc capping it.
Sure it was useless to try scramble. I rolled from F5 going S. Between F5 and F2 I found what i was looking for - the rook C47 - and shot him down. After that I engaged several rook fighters that were on the way to F2 and draged them low to F5 as far as I could. They lost time and alt killing me. IMHO that was all that I could do.

Kieren, if my memory serves me I once chased after you in DoA while you were flying the Halberstadt CLII, you zoomed vertical then very smoothly switched to the rear gun and started hammering away. Very original!

I'm sure we all get upset now and then flying these sims, it is a very contentious business. And while we don't suffer real deaths, the ego can take a severe battering. I noticed, at the beginning of this TOD, that I was fixating on my stats too much. While sometimes I find it fun to fly for stats this time it seemed more like a job! My solution was to pork my stats so bad that I'd never bother with them again this TOD. I now have no past performance or future expectation; I'm in BLISS!

Remember, when you feel the aggravation building up, close your eyes and click your heels together three times and say, "It's only a game, it's only a GAME!….."

Kieren, I must have logged, after 3 attempts in C47 and some pathetic bombing  by not only me but some other knights, it was time to go.  I could SWEAR I took that ack out in first pass, buffer read "Destroyed"...twice.  There are only 2 acks at F8...why it did not  go down is  beyond me.

Peace Bro!

Blur-

Nah, I never have cared for stats all that much, and certainly didn't have to fight it out at F8 alone. I was having fun, though it was intense.

In DoA I would take my trusty DVa into hordes of Camels, alone. You know what that meant! The fun was getting as many as I could and finding out what I could and couldn't do with that plane. Besides, why be yet another person flying the very best plane in the arena?

You guys worked me over hard, you especially. I never really had a chance to land a sortie, and knew that too. I tried to take the fight out of the ack when possible and managed to get a few of you in the process. That was fun, as well as single-handedly holding that base. I never once called for help on F8, if that tells you anything.

No, I made a mistake in interpreting what was said, it was silly, and it was my fault. I even talked to Mighty afterward (he was Knight), and he mentioned you guys were complementary of my efforts.

Anyway, it was fun, just sorry that I chose to end it that way. You guys put up a great fight and deserved to take F8. Does make a case for closing bases though, doesn't it?

Do I need to laud praise on your head also Kieren?

Naw, I think not, I wish I had your grace under fire, even (as the post above proves)
when a misunderstanding occurs, rather than give into the anger, you simply log.

As to Kieren vs Mighty, thats a good question. Sorry Mighty but I'd have to put my money on Kieren! But it would be close, DARN close!
