Anyone have any tips on how to get the throttle/mouse to work with mouse view?

Eagler,
You seem to be the resident expert on the X45 here, so I thought I'd ask you.
I've been using your profile for the X45,and have come to like it very much.  However, i find that I have to do the folowing:
1. open the Saitek software, load your AH profile,
2. open and load AH,
3. go back to the desktop and hit the "profile now" key in the Saitek program,
4.  Return to AH and wait a minute or so for it all to take effect.

If I don't do this, or exit AH1 and go to AH2, the computer acts as though I am holding down a couple of keys and fills in the login in screens witha steady stream of keystrokes.  If I oppen word during this time, it will continue to fill the page with the letters that it seems like Iam holding down.
What am I doing wrong?  Is there a way to set up your profile in AH so that I don't have to got hru this process each time?

BTW - I have WinXP, Dir. X9.0, 1.5g computer, 256 RAM, etc.
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

debuman - entering AH :
1. shut down my AV
2. right click the Saitek Profile icon in the bottom right and select AH profile
3. open AH
4. put plane on auto while climbing out and calibrate stick - everytime I enter AH as I want it as close as possible

The trick is to make sure the rotors are centered as they are set for trim control and if they are not then you get the trim keys being mashed down when you are out of the game...like you get in the text box sometimes when you try to type a message and the rotors are active and not centered to null command.

as for the mouse view on the throttle mouse, it is set as a 4 way hat in my profile so it won't do Seeker any good

seeker, amke sure you have the software loaded properly in advanced mode. also make sure you have to proper dirvers for XP (if you are running XP).

DL them at saitek's website.it's like a 10-17mb exe with all the drivers and software included.

as far as programming it, print out AH keymapping from the help files and set the buttons to the corrosponding keystrokes you want.

once in AH MAKE SURE to remove any JS mappings that are there by default. that will make all sorts of funny things happening.

you will still get all the actions on the x45, just think of it as a second keyboard, instead of DirectX button mapings. also in the "keyboard" mode there are endless possibilities, like making a string to set a salvo but just pressing 1 button.


as far as the "mouse" hat, i have mine set ot a 4 way hat with 4 different keystorkes in each mode (total of 12 keystrokes). they all work for me. you might want to check if you have the hat set to 4-way or 8-way. wiht 8-way there are little positions you might be putting it into (like up-left) instead of just plain "up" and then you are not getting the desired action from it.

I found that I needed to specify that I wanted to use the mouse as (duh!) a mouse and not a hat!

Getting it all working now....


Are we agreed the X45; while indispuitably plastic; actually feels smoother than a cougar in use?

I kind of feel victim to the "emporer's new clothes" syndrome; I paid 3.000 dkr for a cougar; fought with the dammed thing for three years; gave up; paid 900 dkr for a Saitek; and get a better stick!

I hated the X45. Go get a thrustmaster AFterburner II. Same setup as X45. Cept you have the option of using the rudder on throttel or the twisty stick. 80 bucks, might be cheaper now tho.
