There are several neat ideas on this type of thing, and I personally would love it if only large bases had 1944-45 planes....and small bases only had pre 1941 era planes. There are a few huge issues with my idea, and some of them are common to all such limiting factors.
First, it would be detrimental to many of the 'light' players. They only play a few hours a week and it wouldnt be much fun for them if their favorite plane was always unavailable.
Secondly, Your idea would lead to porking of one hanger type along the entire front...eventually, no one would be able to fly the better planes without flying for 2 sectors.
Finally, in line with point #2, and with my idea....to prevent these new things from making gameplay sucky....we would have to have all new maps that take these factors into account.
In the end, it appears to me to be more trouble than good....but thats why TOD will be so cool.....HT may run an entire war in the span of a month....starting with day one only having a few old planes...and moving along from there. Either way...TOD will be a refreshing change from the current arena.
