I have talked with him a few times now about the patriot act and he has described it as the most innocuous legislation he's ever seen.
Has anyone here actually read he patriot act?
Have you?
There are many things "good" in the Patriot Act--things that allow cross communication between Federal agencies, removal of clauses that cause segmentation between jurisdictions, etc.
However, there are also many scary and bad things as well. If you care nothing of your privacy and are fine with the FBI's new ability to go through your medical records, financials, student records and prevent anyone from telling you w/o so much as a court order or even any evidence--merely suspicion --then you will
not have too much problem with it--Here's a couple of links from the ACLU outlining some of the worst of the Act.
