Iv had a few Emachinces and liked them well, but they have been used as secondary machines for me. Iv been impressed with the reliablity of the ones Iv had.

The problem will be weather or not it has an AGP Slot for your video card. my guess is it does not. There for it probably wont work out like your thinking.

The best thing a guy can do, is learn to build his own box. Then you can build something that can easily be upgradable.

Assuming it has AGP, does this one have enough horses to pull the AHII wagon?

Of course, I would check it for the AGP before buying it.

I prefer the Athlon emachines over the celrons myself, but they are both great bargains. Add an aditional 256 or 512 memory and a good AGP card (I use an old Geforce 4200ti) and you have an amazingly cheap machin that runs gr8.

I took my emachine to the con last year, cause Im not moving my main game rig

emachines is ok for the cost ---dont buy the celeron..........buy the athlon xp - you will not regret this
only problem with emachine is that it comes with a restore cd and not an original copy of win xp. This may be a pain if you want to reinstall just the operating system..

Arrrgggg!!! Damn thing does not have an AGP slot, nor the next model up. The emachine with the Athlon 3000 does, but it cost $569. Perhaps I will build the Screen Savers $500 gaming PC.

do it yourself, and for $500.00 to $600.00 you can put together one bad arse computer....... better the any- ANY e-mach, dell, gw, or for that matter, better then any store bought computer, no matter the cost.. dont let them convince you that getting a monitor, keyboard , and mouse and a few programs that you'll never use with it, is a bargain. ... its not for sure in the long run. and its not that hard to do yourself (incase you dont know), good deals on pc parts all over.. worth looking into for sure.
here mine.. at the cost of $575.00. +-. best part is.. i built this pc 5 months ago, so this same computer is now cheaper to build probley. 50.00 75.00 +- cheaper to build.... or better/faster computer for same money..

Will have to build my own, have done so in the past. Will go with XP OS. I like the Pentiums, never has anything fail to work on one. I know others think the Athlon is the way to go. I have always shied away from them. In the early days one had too many issues with Mobo chip sets and such. I know it is much better now, but I will still go the Intel route.

I think I shall wait until Nov - Dec time frame. New Mobo's with the PCI extended should be fairly stable by then. Don't want to paint myself into a corner with AGP Mobo and card.

look in newegg.com.....its where i got all my parts like raidmax gaming tower/w power supply for $54, asus mobo for $70, amd 2400xp+............$675 total and the most expensive parts were 2 512m 2700 ram(bought locally....incase it was d.o.a)
