no coincidence at all. I fully suspect 'your impression' to be molded into whatever makes you feel good about yourself or your beliefs, regardless of any actual facts one way or the other.

impressions aren't facts or evidence, it's just 'how you feel' about something or what you believe. it's not really much concern to anybody but yourself.

Truth does exist, Capt Apathy. My impression isn't necesarily wrong because it is an impression.

For example, my impression is that the liberal Democratic Party has more homosexual members than the Republican Party.

I'm not saying its a bad thing, its just my impression that this is so. I don't offer you factual data. I could be right. Or I could be wrong.

But my impression is based on the fact that for many Republican homosexuals, including the "Log Cabin Republicans" have switched parties on the issue of gay marraige alone.

I believe that we can say certain things about the characteristics of groups without resorting to calling these observations "labeling."

I think that coorelations can be meaningful. That is why people study them.

I never said truth didn't exist or that your impressions where necessarily wrong.

what I said was they weren't really meaningfully to anyone but you.

impressions are just your take on thing and there are no requirements for people to use any sort of facts or logic when coming up with an impression.

since you can't support your statements, and to be honest have no real idea yourself if they are true or not, they just don't matter to anyone but you.

so, as I said in my first response, I really don't find it a coincidence at all that your impression of the world supports your political beliefs.

it would sort of have to wouldn't it?  for any remotely sane person.  most people choose a position on a given issue by what they feel is the right or wrong response to a situation.  only a lunatic would think that right is on the side of their opponent (or opposing party) yet still put all their faith and support behind the people they think are wrong.

so to some it up.  you say you have a negative impression of people who have opposing political views from yours.

and I respond with-  duh

Is that your impression?

This is only another of your preconceptions.

John Kerry on Gun Control

John Kerry is a gun owner and hunter, and he believes that law-abiding American adults have the right to own guns. But like all of our rights, gun rights come with responsibilities, and those rights allow for reasonable restrictions to keep guns out of the wrong hands. John Kerry strongly supports all of the federal gun laws on the books, and he would take steps to ensure that they are vigorously enforced, cracking down hard on the gun runners, corrupt dealers, straw buyers, and thieves that are putting guns into the hands of criminals in the first place. He will also close the gun show loophole, which is allowing criminals to get access to guns at gun shows without background checks, fix the background check system, which is in a serious state of disrepair, and require that all handguns be sold with a child safety lock.

Sounds reasonable.

kerry said that he would fight the NRA... the NRA upholds my rights and asks for tougher sentances for crimes committed with guns.   kerry has taken photo opps with shumer, finestien and the brady bunch vowing his support for their cause which is the total removal of all handguns from Americans and all semi auto anythings... basicaly they want a british form of "sensible" gun control here.

at gunblast.com they have a banner that changes every week with a new kerry anti gun quote.

I am not a hunter... the second amendment is not about hunting.   Child safety locks have not reduced the allready miniscule gun accident rate for children one bit.  They are simply another way to add a layer of burocracy to the allready horrendous process of buying and owning a gun.

If you have bought a gun in California lately you know of the multitude of layers of obstacles that are put there to discourage gun ownership.

Make no misstake.. kerry will make a bad situation worse.
