get a crusier with mining drones and fit cruser to the gills with minine lazer2's,  then get a friend with a cargo ship and have him hall it back to the station, then split the proffit 50/50 with him.
no cargo containers just jettison the ore into space for the cargo ship to pick up.   If anyone comes close to steal ore have the crusier blast the guy  :D

My brother and i did that for a long time and we made a killing.

Chaos is correct, mining is generally best done as a team activity. Having someone haul for you really ups your productivity. However, it gets very dull very quickly, so try and get out into low security space ASAP where the returns are higher for less work, albeit at an increased risk.

There is currently an Eve-wide shortage of the mineral Nocxium, so going after ores that contain this might be more profitable. In 0,5 + space, this can be found in moderate amounts in Pyroxeres rocks. If you go to 0,4 and under, there's plenty in Jaspet and Hemorphite rocks. Get a friend with good refining skills to process the raw ore and then haul the nocxium to a trade hub like Yulai or Luminaire and sell it at a huge mark-up. :)

A word of caution, the way the game mechanics are currently set up mean that if you blast an ore thief in 0,5+ space, the police will blast you in return.

True, i was thinking of a no police area.

"newbie tip"  Right click on open space to get a beter menue for space flight.   helps when you want to go to a astroid belt or a station instead of finding the triangle or what not in space.

Good to see some support for this game. I had some high expectations for this game, but matters of real life came into play and couldn't play EO.

I beta tested it from the start to release, along with Jumpgate.

All I remember this game had a lots to learn. It was fun, but it does take some time.

Minmatar Weav, working out of Anher just now.

I come up empty on both doing a search in the auto pilot data base.

Why not come see me at Duripant Navy school.  Got some extra items from THX 1138 in exchange for some Scordite. Maybe you can use some of the items I don't need.

I'm working with level 2 agent in 0.4 space... kill mission for my little frigate... A Gurista Wrecker and 3 Gurista Despoilers just blew my ship out from under me...

Got insurance, but re-outfitting is such a pain.

ouch!  I just bought a Merlin the other day.  I have 2x150mm railguns and am learning standard missile launchers right now.  I want to blow more ****e up :)  The highest pirate (Serpentis) I've killed, by some miracle, was worth about 40,000.  I have only been on and off to start/restart new skills.  Heh, my interest is failing already.  Once I level up a tad, I'll venture back out.  I feel likeI have ADD... too many games to play :D  I'm going outside...

I've been in the Merlin for quite a while now. Today, I've been trying out the Neutron Blasters rather than the 150mm railguns. They do an assload of damage, but you've got to get in close.

Range is key.  I usually don't allow the enemies to fire.  I open up at 12-15k and set orbit or 'keep at range'.  The 150s do anywhere from 10-50 points of damage.  How do the blasters compare at optimal range?

The damage is 30 or so per... it's the rate of fire that's higher.

Optimal range is 2.5K.

Kestral w/ 4 missile launchers.  Orbit 20k out and do 60-80 damage per hit.

...you want mine?

I'm using the merlin w/ 2x150mm +2x missle launchers as well. Its really too damn easy. Just close to within 20K, open fire and turn around. If you let them chase you you can take out multiple wreckers and despoilers. If you keep your distance they usually won't even damage you.

I'm using 2x magnetic stabilizers (think thats what they are called) They increase the range and damage of hybrid turrets.

Right now I'm training up for interceptors. Hopefully I'll have it before my free trial is up. So far, the game hasn't been much of a challenge. I've got more money from just killing pirates than I can spend. More skills than I'll ever have time to train up. And I've never even come close to losing a ship yet.
