Was painfully slow during the day.

It's about 1 am Pacific now, and this BBS is loading a touch *quicker* than the old board.

Something to do with traffic? I'll be interested to see what it'll be like again tomorrow.

Someone posted a link, dont remember if it was this board or another, that showed a registry fix that improves IE loading. I tried it and it loads now like it used to.

BTW Staga, I have a highspeed connection.

Here is the URL:  http://www.the-scream.co.uk/html/resources/ie_reg_tweak.html

Its simple... you just need more RAM.

You just need to upgrade to 512+ megs RAM and it will run quickly and without those 8 minute spawn times. Plus its really cheap right now.

Ooopssss wrong BBS  ;)  :p  ;)

Staga:
--------------------------------------------
Just fine here; Get faster connection.     ;)
--------------------------------------------

Would love to, but I live out in the country in Arkansas, and can't even get a 28.8 connection.  There is no alternative, and probably won't be for years.

This UBB crap is slow, bloated, and too much of a pain in the bellybutton to use on a regular basis.   :(

At least before yesterday I could choose all the threads I wanted to see, and have them all download while I was fixing something to eat.  Now I'm back to using a web browser, and it's far to annoying to wait a minute or more for all this junk to load when I just want to read a little text.  Text that would only take a second or two to load without all the crap along with it.   :(

This thing loads faster on my system. I don't get any of the slowdowns I did on the old board.

Seems that using IE5 solves the slow loading problem, still, NNTP would be a heck of a lot faster...still not gonna read here from mi casa de 52K

Why does it load so slow? Simple, it doubled in size. The old boards list was 58k, the new one is 110k. Each topic list (like General, or O'Club) was 30k, it's blown up to 72k. On top of that, some genius decided to throw a "Content=no-cache" line in there so it effectively reloads every single page when you hit the Back button. This is more annoying than the cookies bit, and the no-cache tag should be removed. There IS a reload button on EVERY browser, but apparently the dufus at Infopop forgot about that.

Edit: forgot to mention that HTC's bandwidth bill is going to blow through the roof because of the no-cache tag. Not to mention that connects, downloads, and just general roaming is REALLY going to slow down.
