What in the name of 617 sqn is a 'Hardware T&L'?

Right I downloaded AHII easy enough and installed it correctly but when I try to open AHII it tells me that my video adaptor doesn't support something called a 'Hardware T&L'?

Help! :(

Hardware T&L (texture and lighting) is hardware on the video card to allow a graphics engine to offload some of the work from the CPU.
ATI/NVidia have been building these types of video cards for about 5 years, or longer now.

Intel is about the only new graphic chip on the market without support for it.  But it lacks support for quite a few things.
