unreadable files

when i try to load AH2 i get a error.../program files/HTC/Aces High II/cache/version.txt is corrupt and unreadable.
can anyone give me a pointer to fix this?

Remove the 'cache' folder from the Aces High II installation directory (default location: C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\cache).
Aces High II will correctly rebuild the cache folder and files at the next startup.

inside the cache folder is a folder called stdshape.  this folder is unreadbale and and corrupt and cant be deleated, which in turn is preventing me from removing the cache folder.
