Reporting in from the airport in Miami.

Texas lost a police officer in the line of duty today so lets not dishonor his memory by political bantering.

No doubt he was dedicated to his duty, just to keep going back to work each day, but I'm sure he didn't want to die today.

Texas has lost atleast 4 police officers and two firefighters in the last 2 weeks. Grapevine,Tx lost a firefighter and police officer.

The piece of **** in the van at Wal-Mart is dead btw. From the initial reports it sounds like the officers fatally wounded him in the gun battle.

I just happen to think that some of you people who post here really need to try to think before you post. I doubt that anyone that has posted to date has ever had the responsibility of checking out a suspicious vehicle like those Officers had to do.

The "political" comments are out off line.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

In the UK 1 policeman has been killed by firearms while on duty since 1995 - how many police have been killed in the USA in the same period?

Yes last i chekced we also have like what? 6 or 7 times as many people as your island.  So it's pretty hard to compare the two by throwing out stats that you really can't compare to our country because they aren't the same.  There is no way to prove that your gun law work for the U.S. :)

ok on that basis lets say 5 police have been shot and died in the Uk - Uk pop is 55 million btw - plse answer the question  - how many police have died by gunshot whilst on duty in the US during the same period of time?

Gun laws work pretty much the same everywhere - your problem is that you have too many middle aged men wearing camo spandex treating guns as some sort of fetish.

If you want to own guns then don't blubber when police get killed or schools get turned in slaughter houses.

The people who own guns don't blubber about it.  Last i checked you dont need a gun to kill a police officer. Why do you express such an interst in US gunlaws do they affect yoru life in some way?

For some reason cops are most often killed by guns.

Last couple attempts to stab cops (one which have hit) in Finland has been ruined by their protective vests ;)

Pretty certain that that isn't the reason, although perhaps the foreign press leads you to believe so. Attitudes are different here than in your country but we still manage OK. I would rather us have them than not overall, grief for the occasional massacre notwithstanding.
