Requires a (free) subscription to read.  I would include the text here, but you gotta see the steering wheel. ;)

Funny thing is that the computer stuff in F1 peaked years ago.  They don't currently use the 2-way telemetry or encrypted comms, by rule.  They used to have active differentials (which could steer the car), active front diffs (which used braking force to steer the car), active suspension, etc.  The technology has been "dumbed down" repeatedly by regulation changes since 1993.

Yep, FIA is neutering Formula 1 series with its new rules.
Also engines will be smaller from season 2006, they will be 2,4liter V-8s with about half of the power of old turbo-charged F-1 engines.
Guess the're racing with Yugos in next decade.

Yea some of the things the FIA proposes would suck but luckily it seems like most of the teams kick and scream to keep things moving in the direction of progress.  I will admit I think it was a good call ditchin traction control tho.... IMO ETC is crap made for old farts in their Caddys to use when its raining outside and has no business being on a racecar.  Did anyone catch Satos loop coming out of the last turn during his qualifying run last weekend??? that was awesome.  Also any predictions for this weekend at Indy????  Odds are good it will be Michael as always, but id like to see Sato win one.....love that go for broke driving style of his.

The cars will probably be just as fast, if not faster with modern technology.  Remember when Normally Aspirated engines replaced the Turbo-charged cars it went to 3.5 litre V8/V10/V12 NA engines.  Modern F1s cars today are smaller yet faster.

Would like to see them get rid of the wings and ground effects.

Go back to when it was REAL seat of your pants, white knuckle  racing. There seemed to be more excitement in the Grand Prix/F1 Racing in those days. But they will never do that for safety reasons.

Because of the technology now - very few teams can compete and those that do have to have a multi-million dollar sponsor behind them just to SHOW UP on race day much less be competive.
