Author Topic: Patch 2 start error (Read 350 times)

I get an error message with patch 2. It reads:

initialization failed with -5
mainSN_FAILED -2

It did this when I updated from 2.0 to patch 2. I also d/l'd the whole 2.02 full install, installed in a different directory and get the same error message.

Hi Grits,

That error message means your sound card is not getting initialized. Can you run a sound test in dxdiag and see if directx can get to it?

OK, that makes sense, I had to reinstall windoze and I probably forgot to reload the SB driver. I'll fix it when I get home and let you know what happens.

Not to surprizingly, AH works perfect after I reinstalled the soundcard drivers I previously uninstalled.
