RAM limitations with Win98
«
on:

I think that I remember reading that Win98SE is limited as far as how much RAM it will use. I currently have 256 Meg of SDRAM, will I see any benefit to getting another 256 Meg?
Thanks for any help!

with more than 512mb you have to edit the max vcache and manually set it to 512 or smaller.
it only effect how much the system sets aside for OS functions or something like that.
either way, putting more than 512 in win98 wont make much of a defference anyway.

Thanks, JB73, but since I currently only have 256Meg, I take it it wouldn't hurt to add another 256Meg to bring me up to 512?

Like JB73 said 512 is max for 98 without editing.
You SHOULD benefit from 512 vs 256.
