hit sprites

it seems that only a small precentage of the rounds that hits the target generate hit sprites on my computer. is that suposed to be like that?

i wasnt sure about this issue untill today when i flew a 109 with a 30mm cannon.
i strafed a pt boat saw no hit sprites and destroied the pt boat.

is that a problem on my end or do other ppl have this too?

as far as I know this is intentional. not all small caliber hits give a sprite, but I think all cannon hit do.

Its the other way round for me the 7.9s produce sprites but not the cannon.

Very annoying because one isn't sure if your aim is off and what to do to correct, especially when you don't fire tracers.

And I thought I was just missing!

Actually, I almost always get machine gun sprites and often DONT get cannon sprites, yet the plane blows up.

One sortie I was flying and never did get any hit sprites on an enemy. I came down and buzzed em and thought I completely missed, but soon as I passed he exploded and I got a kill message. Dont know if the sprites dont work all the time or just under certain circumstances. I know I was coming down from a steep angle.
