Estes-

In the future you should get out in the open when photographing tornados.  You could then have posted some much better pictures of that twister:D

Cool pic. 4/2/82 my home town had a F4 go through the middle of it.
Passed less than a half mile from my house.

I miss thunderstorms. Got a few decent ones in Arizona. As of last night I'm officially back in CA where all we get is smog for weather.

Heh I live in the middle of Tornado Alley... 12 miles North of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  I've seen twisters to my left and right within a matter of 2-3 miles of each other.  Tornado's are vicious and unpredictable.  But when the hail stops and it seems to be calm for a few seconds..here comes that "Train" sound.
I still remember seeing Stroud, OK after an F5 ran it's course from OKC towards Tulsa just a few years ago. Nothing but devastation. Still today most of Stroud has not been rebuilt.

Never look a Tornado in the eye and say "HaaaaaR".

You an Okie? I was in Woodward in 92 when there were 14 or 15 tornados in one afternoon. I saw about 5 of them if I remember correctly. I remember 2 of them merged together and formed a large "M" shape. Damage was minimal..something like a grain elevator or a silo was taken out but not much else. Creepy thing is that it was the anniversary of a tornado that more or less decimated the town in 1947. I never did hear the train sound, but the closest one was still well over a mile away from my house.

Edit: trying to Google it now for some pics. Seems they were reported as "land spout" type tornados. Also looks like 7 is a more accurate number that were actually within the city area. Guess the others were somewhere nearby.

In that state, you don't have to chase them. They'll ring your doorbell and ask to borrow a cup of flour or something.

That was my last year in Woodward.. my grandfather ran Woodward Diesel Service just East of town.  I saw the first funnel from that day.. I remember it clear as day.  I then moved to Del City and was less than 1/2 mile from the largest recorded Tornado Ever.. I had an airplane wing in my backyard from 70 miles away in Chickasaw..
